@Oliya .. thank you.. I used to have it on 6 x 6' wooden trellis, but that rotted, so replaced with this metal enclosure, it's planted the outside of it.. 3 panels stretching across.. they push into the ground on spikes and they have rounded arch tops with decorative finials.. they are Panacea brand and I think I got them from Primrose company.. I didn't want any more wood..
Lovely tour of Beales garden, thanks for sharing that. A masterclass in growing climbing roses over arches and other structures, something my garden lacks, apart from the odd obelisk.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
..thank you... what I like about looking around a garden like Beales's, is that I can see any roses that I might like, that have withstood heavy rain, such as they had the night before.. ...these two looked good on the day.. 'Lucky'.. a floribunda... rose of the year 2009.. quite a large specimen here.. ..and a bed of 'Champagne Moment'.. a rose that's been on my radar for a while.. ..so today I went to a garden centre and picked up... 'Lucky'... ..and 'Champagne Moment'... both planted in my garden...
'Bengal Crimson'... I nearly lost this so I've had to bring it back to life virtually... sent a very poor specimen last winter.. 'Marie van Houtte'... lovely tea rose scent.. 'Munstead Wood'.. own root.. it's full of buds.. ..final blooms on 'Mme Lauriol de Barny'... ..Pebble Beach.. a riot of colours, clashing or otherwise.. some of it seeded.. Veronica 'Marietta'.. I continue to be wow'd by this plant.. Anthemis 'E.C. Buxton'...
...so many roses to choose from, it's quite overwhelming at times, but I try to encourage a move away from the obvious, to a more varied collection..
.. well, I couldn't resist... so we had another trip back to Peter Beales roses today.. we now find we can do the trip in just 1hr 20 mins.. we went totally the wrong way previously. ..just one picture from the gardens, still looking splendid.. this is 'New Dawn' on the nearest arch.. ..my trolley... I bought a 2nd 'Wild Rover'.. 'Tall Story' which impressed me in the gardens and I just had to go back for it... and 'Frilly Cuff'.. a rose that's been on my radar for some time.. the other 2 plants are Salvia 'Royal Bumble' and Lavender 'Ashdown Forest'.. 'Frilly Cuff'... who needs Gabriel Oak...?.. not quite the scent, but less fussy..

Some fun and interesting purchases there, I'd love to see how Tall Story gets on, I've often considered that one.
