This is a wonderful thread. It is lovely to see around your garden. Thank you for the inspiration! Some of your plants seem to have found their way into my shopping basket.
..thanks so much, I'm glad you've found something from it... I'd like to see more members start threads of their own gardens..
.. as I've taken so many photos today, I'll continue on here for now.. Crocosmia 'Coleton Fishacre'.. quite a bright plant.. 'Desdemona'... funny year for roses.. some hit and miss.. Gaura 'Pink Dwarf'.. very pleased with these.. Coreopsis 'American Dream'.. Clematis 'Rooguchi'.. Lythrum 'Dropmore Purple'.. impressed with this plant in a group of 3.. more needed I think..
..this Hollyhock 'Chater's Double' must be nearly 10 feet.. it looks a bit ridiculous if I'm honest.. Phlox 'Sweet Summer Lilac'. Geranium 'Cream Chocolate' reblooming after a cutback... Phlox 'Monica Lyndon-Bell'.. 'Wild Rover'.. 'Louise Odier' Geranium 'Russell Prichard'.. long flowering, with Lavender 'Gros Bleu'. and Pennisetum 'Cassians' which is late this year like everything else..
'Mme. Antoine Mari'.. always in flower.. Salvia 'Royal Bumble'.. strong colour.. I shall probably have to lift for winter.. Achnatherum calamagrostis.. ..large bud cluster with almost black buds.. 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.. rose.. Aster frikartii' Monch'.. about 3' x almost 6 feet width.. Clematis 'Star of India'.. just beginning to go over a bit.. Parahebe 'Avalanche' flowers in flushes through the year.... the easiest thing to propagate..
..some roses don't last that long before succumbing to diseases... David Austin has written in their catalogues that their roses may last only 10-12 years before needing to be replaced... I've said before I've found this to be true but you will always find people with roses that lasted decades... I've just removed an 8 year old 'Scepter'd Isle'.. one of my favourite roses, but it started to deteriorate just last year, and enough was enough.. all the canes got diseased.. ..not a pretty sight.. ..an example of negative phototropism in roses... where the rootstock grows away from the sun.. this main taproot is heading due north.. the top growth is positive and like most plants grows towards the sun... 'Lucky'.. this is a nice rose, I'm pleased to have it.. quick to repeat and good foliage.. 'Bengal Crimson' just transplanted to a nice spot in the ground.. one of my best locations but it deserves it as it blooms on and off all year.. ..reflowering Anchusa 'Loddon Royalist'.. normally May/June.. I like this 'Donatella'.. a hybrid tea with good fragrant blooms, and colourful foliage.. ..hardy Plumbago.. Ceratostigma willmottianum..
..lots of photos again... no rain, quite warm today.. ..this from yesterday evening.. 'Desdemona'.. on the Pebble Beach, hot side.. ..opposite on the Shady Side.. Phlox 'Rembrandt'.. 'Scented Garden'.. one of my top 5 roses this year.. Phlox 'Mt. Fuji'.. needs deadheading.. ..sunny Dry Border, part of the central bed.. grass is Achnatherum calamagrostis.. Pittosporum 'Tom Thumb' does well in these conditions..
..today's roses... 'Lady of Shalott'.. 'Wild Blue Yonder'.. 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.. 'Cornelia' .. on the Divide Rail.. 'Lucky' new for me this summer.. 'Silas Marner'... it'll get there eventually.. 'Eustacia Vye'... large flowered Austins struggle in drought..
