Gorgeous photos and such a delightful garden for the senses, Marlorena.

How old are your Munstead cuttings out of interest? I took mine last Autumn and grew on in a pot but the one that survived is about a quarter of the size of yours. I’m doing exactly the same experiment re own-root allegedly better.

Also, about your Florence Ducher, how do you find it in general, good and bad points? Did I imagine you said you were going to expand on this rose at some point? I keep nearly ordering from Ducher as I have a couple of theirs on my wish-list, maybe this autumn..

..thanks so much, great to see you.. !..

Well my Munstead weren't really cuttings, so I got a head start,.. they were thick canes that had already rooted into the soil, which I found when I dug them out..  Austins seem to go 'own root' very quickly, which is why I suspect they are generally easy to root from cuttings..

..they soon developed shoots and took off..

..I'll show some more pics of 'Florence Ducher' later, so if you get a mo' look in if you can, but bottom line... she's a blackspotter, rather weak resistance..  so I'm not sure she's made for your climate.

    'Florence Ducher'... [ex-Roseraie Ducher, France]
.. I have 3 roses in my garden connected with the famous 'Mme. Isaac Pereire', and they are all showing considerable black spot... they are the only ones that have it to any degree.  I can put up with it, because I love the roses in question..
..this is the lower part of Florence Ducher, but she's like it top to toe, and almost defoliating..  just a few decent leaves here and there..

..however, the new growth is clean and nice.. I didn't notice this issue so much last year with this rose in a container..

.. and she produces these scented lovely blooms..

..another thing.. early blooms both bullnose and proliferate... so, something else I have to adapt to with this rose, which is too good to lose as it's thornless.. totally..

I’m quietly following your thread avidly Marlorena, just pitching in with the odd question. I can see why you got a head start on Munstead, I shall watch with interest how it does for you. My cutting was pretty small too, lack of decent material.

I look forward to hearing more about Florence, but thanks, really good to know re blackspot, since my pressures are pretty high. It’s on Ducher’s list of roses suitable for hot climates, but maybe not hot and humid ones!

Very unusual Eustacia bloom, judging by the catalogue photos. Lovely colours on the alonsoa.
