..totally in love with this rose... 'Hume's Blush Tea Scented China'.. .. I love the pink rippling effect.. 'Eustacia Vye'.. opened at last.. the scent wow's me, and I do love this rose.. reminds me a bit of one called 'Rachel' a Tantau rose better known as 'Augusta Luise'.. .. a more typical bloom from hybrid musk 'Erfurt'.. 'Florence Ducher' this is similar to a rose I have called 'Mrs. Paul'.. they are closely related.. 'Scented Garden' starting its first flush..
..on the Rose Enclosure.. 'Kew Gardens' ..the other side.. lots to come out here.. ..my Tea Patio and Rose Enclosure... the Rose Fedge still in development so rather a lot of bare fence.. I do love these Camelot Foxgloves..
Gorgeous photos and such a delightful garden for the senses, Marlorena.
How old are your Munstead cuttings out of interest? I took mine last Autumn and grew on in a pot but the one that survived is about a quarter of the size of yours. I’m doing exactly the same experiment re own-root allegedly better.
Also, about your Florence Ducher, how do you find it in general, good and bad points? Did I imagine you said you were going to expand on this rose at some point? I keep nearly ordering from Ducher as I have a couple of theirs on my wish-list, maybe this autumn..
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Well my Munstead weren't really cuttings, so I got a head start,.. they were thick canes that had already rooted into the soil, which I found when I dug them out.. Austins seem to go 'own root' very quickly, which is why I suspect they are generally easy to root from cuttings..
..they soon developed shoots and took off..
..I'll show some more pics of 'Florence Ducher' later, so if you get a mo' look in if you can, but bottom line... she's a blackspotter, rather weak resistance.. so I'm not sure she's made for your climate.
'Bon Silene'.. I find this opening bloom rather beautiful, but according to taste... I also love the colour mixes going on here.. Tea scent.. not overly strong at this point.. 'Botzaris'.. 'Queen of Denmark'...
'Florence Ducher'... [ex-Roseraie Ducher, France] .. I have 3 roses in my garden connected with the famous 'Mme. Isaac Pereire', and they are all showing considerable black spot... they are the only ones that have it to any degree. I can put up with it, because I love the roses in question.. ..this is the lower part of Florence Ducher, but she's like it top to toe, and almost defoliating.. just a few decent leaves here and there.. ..however, the new growth is clean and nice.. I didn't notice this issue so much last year with this rose in a container.. .. and she produces these scented lovely blooms..
..another thing.. early blooms both bullnose and proliferate... so, something else I have to adapt to with this rose, which is too good to lose as it's thornless.. totally..
'Bon Silene' again, opened out more.. looks like it's had a fright... but I like it.. these Old Roses can be quite comical in a way.. full of character.. ..first bloom on 'Vanessa Bell'.. showing some proliferation in the middle, due to the cold Spring.. 'Mme. Lauriol de Barny'.. some early blooms on this delicious rose.. full of character and scent..
I’m quietly following your thread avidly Marlorena, just pitching in with the odd question. I can see why you got a head start on Munstead, I shall watch with interest how it does for you. My cutting was pretty small too, lack of decent material.
I look forward to hearing more about Florence, but thanks, really good to know re blackspot, since my pressures are pretty high. It’s on Ducher’s list of roses suitable for hot climates, but maybe not hot and humid ones!

'Eustacia Vye' has really opened out now... I'm getting deeper, richer colours than previous years on this rose.. 'Desdemona' I rather like with grey/green foliage.. I hope the Lychnis flowers are white too.. ..first flowers on this tender perennial .. Alonsoa 'Salmon Beauty'...
