...leaving the Pebble Beach garden, onto what I call my dried up River Bed garden.. I have 2 Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola' on each corner as the walk winds around.. ..I pass one of my favourite conifers Chamaecyparis 'Van Pelt's Blue'.. very suitable for tight corners, and solidly drought tolerant.. Clematis 'Princess Diana' on trellis to the left.. ..turning the corner onto the river bed, which is a sunken area.. those weedy looking plants in the gravel are Persicara amplexicaulis 'Inverleith' which is a less aggressive type.. informally planted.. ..how I love Astrantia 'Roma' with clematis 'Guernsey Cream' on the arch..
..there is a real dried up river bed the other side of the fence to the left, it flows underneath this border here, resurfacing much further down, in a neighbouring field.. it can get flooded in winter but does not enter my garden.. ..this is also the start of my Rose Fedge.. newly planted due to fence renewal.. I have about 12 climbing, rambling and shrub roses growing up and along it...
..this takes me through to my Tea Patio and Rose Enclosure, which I hope will be blooming tomorrow.. ..roses on the Enclosure..
I like the names you are giving to the different areas. And how you present it almost like a tour through your garden, it makes it much easier to connects the areas.
Beautiful photos @Marlorena - like edhelka I like your names for the areas. Can I ask how long it has taken you to establish ? ( Also since my spatial imagination/awareness is a bit rubbish I don't suppose you have a photo showing the perspective ie which bits of the U correspond to which beds- no drama if you don't or otherwise have privacy concerns around whole garden photos )
@Desi_in_London .. thanks for your interest too.. well, in short it's simply 4 sides of a detached bungalow, 2 long straight borders and 2 shorter side borders,.. if we take the big capital U and split into 4..
1. ...the left line of the U is my Rose Fedge, including the Rose Enclosure, Tea Patio and River Bed areas.
2. ..the bottom of the U as it curves contains my Pebble Beach garden, and the Rose Island bed...
3. ..the right line of the U is my Dry Garden border, road frontage..
4. .. the open part at the top of the U is my driveway, which also contains Potted Driveway roses, my greenhouse and shed..
I also have a Potted Rose Balcony.. I'm hoping they will be showing more tomorrow..
oh, and it's been a 10 year labour of love [frustration]..
Love your garden @Marlorena, it looks like it's all hidden nooks and crannies. I can't do that here as we're on a slope and it's all wide open - pity. Look forward to seeing lots more photos.
That was an inspired, and inspirational tour of your garden Marlorena, connecting and putting everything into context. We shall have to send over Mr. VE to do the video next!

My goodness your rose enclosure is going to be spectacular in coming days. Looking at the amount of buds it has.
looking forward to watching development through your update photos.
