@cooldoc ... Given the two, I'd have gone for the other one... but we make our choices and at its best, CdeC is a gorgeous rose, one of the first Old Roses I grew in fact.. and yes it is more compact.. I've had both of them here.. ..judging by your other roses, I'm sure it'll do better for you..
'Florence Ducher' I forgive for all her faults.. C. 'Burma Star'.. I've never got this clematis over 5 foot.. it's about that now.. 'Eustacia Vye' changing every day.. ..I think white Foxgloves go best with Old Roses... they use them at Mottisfont this way.. I copied it on a small scale.. C. 'Souvenir de Capitaine Thuilleaux'... 'Cornelia' on Divide rail... showing its spreading habit..
My Penelope's rather like that Marlorena, much wider now as she is tall. Just coming into abundant bloom, I absolutely adore the colour changes from deep apricot to cream.
...hot today.. some Old Roses .. all fragrant delectable in their own way..
'Mme. Legras de St. Germain'... 'Hume's Blush Tea Scented China'... 'Queen of Denmark'... 'Botzaris'... ..a half decent bloom on 'Marie Pavie.. this rose has struggled a bit since planting in my soil here.
I like the apricot coloured hips on Penelope as well so don't deadhead much. Mine faces east ish so gets early morning winter sun shining on them which I can see from my bedroom window. I'm just off out to take a photo while it's looking good.
I don't grow many hybrid teas, but occasionally I come across one I really like.. such as this.. which I find quite beautiful, so far healthy and a half decent fragrance.. 'Dr. O'Donel Brown'.. ..it also produces decent clusters, like a floribunda.. 'Munstead Wood' .. own root.. first bloom..
I look forward to your pictures @Lizzie27 of Penelope..
C. 'Belle of Woking'.. topping out my 8 foot obelisk.. mauve/pink quickly turning to what I would call an ice blue colour.. Helianthemum 'Lawrenson's Pink'.. quite a sprawly one.. but I like the colours.. C. 'Daniel Deronda'.. from above.. Parahebe 'Avalance'.. in the Dry Garden,.. I also have it in shady areas with moisture.. Helianthemum 'Wisley Primrose'...
My first year Eustacia is only just about to produce its first bloom.. I’m surprised at how pink it looks in your picture.. DA website suggests that they’re pale salmon pink.. the buds on mine also look very deeply pink.. so I suspect hey will end up looking similar to yours
@celcius_kkw ..yeah, they change colour according to temps... deeper stronger colours arrive with cool conditions, when it gets warmer they lighten, or due to the age of the blooms.. sometimes it goes the other way..
I'm waiting to see your potted roses on the other thread...

Penelope is lovely, I miss that rose, just don't have room.. the hip colour was so unusual, I don't think I've seen another like it..
