Hi everyone we had rain earlier, it's drying now, but it's cold the greenhousewasonly 12C at 10am this morning. Our window cleaner is due today too. Might have to skip my volunteer day on Thursday too much to do here and on plots.Â
Wishing a speedy recovery to all those laid low at the moment.
A dank and dreary day today. Spending the day on similarly grim household tasks. Shopped around for the next year of home insurance - £121 with a £20 voucher for Halfords felt like a good result Requested a P45 from my last job and provided instructions on how to generate it I need to get a laptop and printer connected and working now. Not quite sure that some employers understand what they are are saying when they insist they're "paperless". I haven't even started my next contract but they're sending me documents to print off and sign in the 'old-fashioned way'. Electronic signatures aren't acceptable Â
Back from yet another visit to the dentist and more deep mining to prepare for a crown. Two weeks of peace and then the fitting. Came home the long way round as I needed to pick up a serious base to hold our new cantilever parasol.  Found a new reel for my hosepipe too and lots of lovely plants to explore but no room on the trolley today.
Stupidly, the shop that sold us the parasol online with delivery doesn't accept online orders for the base cos it's too heavy and when we went to or local branch to get one the staff knew nothing about it and weren't prepared to order one for collection.  That's lost them our future custom.
It is still cool here and still showery so, once I've had a coffee I shall be off weeding and maybe planting some cabbages.  Supposed to be dry today but isn't.  Supposed to warm up on Friday. We'll see.
I hope everyone is OK today and that things are improving for those with troubles and/or ailments. Â
Root canal! With that curly needle! Do they still use that @Obelixx? We can't get a dentist's appointment for love nor money. I suspect my next trip will be: "Well, the best thing would be to take everything out".  We have a history of poor gum health in our family. My mother had all hers out when she was just 30, my daughter has had to have all hers out (sad) and I think I'm next. So don't really mind not being able to get an appointment as it puts off the dreaded day. Happy chewing on just one side...
Hello folk, I'm very miffed as according to yesterday's BBC forecast it was supposed to be sunny and dry today. Although it started out that way, it started raining at 1.30 pm and is now bucketing down. I just checked the forecast again which says a 6% chance of precipitation about 3pm. I don't believe it.
I'm pleased to say that the landscapers came back this morning, have re-erected the arbour and they very kindly flopped the rose back on top and have tied it on again, not an easy job for me to do which would have involved a stepladder. They also did a little more paving just to finish the job off nicely.
Fingers crossed your OH recovers quickly Yviestevie and your sister, Steephill. I'm not liking the sound of your dental treatment Obelixx, as mine has warned me he's watching one of my very old ones carefully which might need replacing soon. I like the look of that yurt Chicky, but it does look rather draughty. More painting Busy-Lizzie? you must be sick of it by now. Any news about the tiles? Sorry to hear about the disturbed night Hostafan, there's no easy answer to that. My MIL used to wander down the street in her nightie at midnight and annoy the neighbours. Well, it looks like gardening's postponed for now so I'd better do some h/w.
No idea @didyw. He has a very modern console that drives the chair position, several kinds and speeds of drills and polishers and assorted heads.  I don't look. Don't want to know. This is a wisdom tooth that cracked. He thought it was just a 2nd molar but that was removed in my teens to make room for moving teeth about and years of experimental braces. I had 2 3rd teeth at the front and they made people at the Manchester dental hospital very excited.
I have a friend with gum disease who had regular sessions with the hygienist to try and slow it down but not during Covid so she has lost another tooth and has a loose one. She did manage to see her dentist last week and they'll get her in for cleaning again asap - in Bristol.  Must admit all the extra hygiene precautions are a palaver but not onerous.
My tiles have been delivered to the tile shop at last!  The lorry driver had delivered them to the wrong town and they had to trace where he should have delivered them. Builder says he will come tomorrow.
Been shopping, bought blue paint, weekly groceries etc, birthday pressie for 4 year old GD. Had to go home to wrap it up then back to town for the Post Office. Watched the last episode of "The Pursuit of Love". Haven't done any painting yet.
I'm lucky having a dentist son, he's done a few crowns but he says my teeth are in good nick for someone of 27. I brush and floss after meals and before bed. Never had gum disease.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Sunny but very windy here. Â The seedlings are having a rough time getting away this year.

Another wet and windy day, no planting is getting done and the g/h has no more room.
Please let summer start.
I have put a few of the least soggy pictures from yesterday on the garden visits thread.
