@Omori...that's a wow from me...the Japanese certainly love their roses. That's about the 3rd or 4th such video of a Japanese rose garden I've seen, and they've all been stunning. I wonder what on earth they feed 'em.
Very soggy again today. So I'll post a few more photos from yesterday:
Royal Jubilee really taking off. A few very fat buds.
First bud on Eustacia Vye
Lady of the Lake
Salvia Mainacht
Here's the wild flower/meadow mix patch I mentioned the other day. Lots of flowers starting to come up now - red campion and a lot of ribwort. Looks like a jungle in this pic!
Any idea what might be wrong with my Scarborough Fair. I've tried a drench of sequestered iron, but it's still developing too many yellowing leaves and is way behind in it's development.
@peteS - I think that’s just the colour of it - starts lighter and then darkens. Looks like they’re all at the top? So it’s new growth going yellow green before darkening
@Mr. Vine Eye It's the mottled yellowing of the leaves and the lack of vigour which is concerning. Maybe it just might prefer to be in the ground as yours appears to be and not a pot, so that's one option if things don't improve.
@peteS - ohh actually with hindsight it does look more yellow than mine. My iPad was in nighttime mode when I first looked where it makes the screen go more sepia tinted.
Unexpected first bud on one of my bishop's children dahlias.
Thanks for the chart. Looking at it, it could be one of three things, so I've decided to just put it in the ground...light shady spot...before it gets any bigger and hopefully any deficiencies should be corrected.
@peteS - I know it's not that helpful really as so many of them look the same when you look at photos. Or just don't really look like the pattern that you're seeing.
Just know it's unhappy with "something".
My Emily Bronte that I moved into a pot has stopped growing completely. All the growth tips have come off. It'll perk up eventually though. Give it a few weeks and leaf buds will start appearing at the axils.
Shame though. Was looking forward to her in second year but guessing it'll be more like a first now.
@Mr. Vine Eye, i was feeling about some roses because they were really set back by all the flooding and then moving and then fox. But now I am thinking its ok if some are behind, hopefully they will flower later when others are in between first and second flush.
@Mr. Vine Eye I've just transferred it to the soil from the pot. Luckily the pot had quite a crack on it so it wasn't as difficult as it might have been to get out with just a bit of root damage. The one thing I did notice though was how loose the compost was even after several months in the pot. I don't know if that was a contributory factor or not, but maybe I will have to start looking at my mix in the future, at present it's about 60/40 JI No3 and MP.

Plenty of others to keep me busy though!
