@Victoria Sponge thanks, my very first rose, ever, so I am neurotic about them! Please note: several people have said they don't like SWE because the blooms are short-lived, and drop their petals. I happen to like this but obviously not everyone does.
This is going for it in my garden, and you couldn't call it anything but a "Celebration " I know some don't, but I love the change in colour as the blooms age.
I'm looking forward to having some roses for my desk too! Getting super antsy as none of my roses feel the urge to bloom and my peonies are also lagging!
Ah well, I can vicariously enjoy all of your photos.
Gosh @Katsa that must be frustrating. Hopefully you will have lots to show soon. I'm finding that this sudden warm weather after the rose-unfriendly conditions of April and May means my roses are not coping well with the heat. They go floppy and last poorly compared to last year. Not to mention the number of first blooms that had proliferation and more mildew and aphids than 2020.
I like your SWE @Pianoplayer, I have a new one and am waiting impatiently for the buds to open.
Very nice bunch there @newbie77 , perfect blooms, I can only imagine how they are filling your room with fabulous fragrance.
My balcony roses this morning. Blue River which has an amazing scent and whose blooms really last, first bloom on Flower Carpet Amber, Pearl Drift and Arthur de Sansal
I am really loving this rose season. Everyday first I go and see what is new in garden, then bring some indoors, and during the day I can enjoy this thread seeing and reading about everyone's roses and garden. I am not able to post comments as I need to do office work as well but I am admiring and enjoying your photos on my phone.
Beautiful roses everyone and what a varied lot they are. it's almost like reading a rose catalogue. I hardly ever cut roses for a vase, I'm not sure why not as it's such a nice idea. I might do so today as I've certainly got lots to choose from.
38 000 views in six weeks and 134 pages of comments and pictures is pretty mad. I think this is safely the most viewed thread on the forum; at the moment, at least.
@peteS DA's 3.5ft for GJ is not realistic, I think. 4ft maybe but more like 5. She is not a true climber, she is a tall shrub. But those 5-6ft canes are perfect for training on a fence if someone wants to grow it as a climber. And it can grow even bigger with support, although I think it would take its time to grow on a house wall or something like that.
