Todays roses of the day, first blooms on for your eyes only (bare root new this year), Brother Cadfael and Rosa des Cistertiens.
Lovely bud colour on crown princess margaritta and Rhapsody in blue is in full swing! Central bed, with photobomb from one of the "pests" it seems to have been plagued with
Such gorgeous photos everyone ( no slight intended if i haven't "liked" yours, probably means i was too busy ogling and thought two sets of photos were in the same message ). Mine still behind, but easy does it is almost-but-not quite open. Smells citrus/fruity to me but not until I poke my nose close-ish to the bud)
@tack, your Mmme Issac pereire has such a beautiful form. Utopia is a charming rose, simple and beautiful and easy does it is a perfect orange.
@celcius_kkw, Port sunlight is a beauty. I love roses with glowing apricot center. And I admired your Queen of sweden since last year and your photo got me to buy it.
@littlegarden, an unknown rose with blackberries smell is such a lovely surprise to have.
@pitter-patter, Suntan is such a beauty and your Harlow Carr is best I have seen. So many buds!
@Ffoxglove yes your semi double roses really adding to cottage garden charm.
@Lena_vs_Deer, welcome to our forum. You have bautiful views from seating area and such a lovely background for everything. Your roses look so healthy and pretty.
@Rickyjones24 your garden is such a tranquil place to be.
@KayJ, I know, such an exciting moment when first roses open.
@purplerallim, do share a pic of Blue for You once those buds open, it would be amazing.
@cooldoc, great to see Augusta Luise photos. Your munstead wood is looking great with nice bushy shape, lots of folliage and buds. Eustacia Vye is growing up so much as well.
@Jessicas, i love the way you have done the garden and now its getting colourful with all roses blooming.
@Omori, The Ancient Mariner is looking beautiful. The mayflower with that background is looking like picture from catalogue.
The thread has just exploded, really love seeing everyone's roses and reading about scent. So glad to hear about your daphne @newbie77. And @Marlorena, thank you for the tips about Desdemona on your rose thread! So hard not to want to go out and buy everything.
Wollerton Old Hall is now doing great, no more weird twisted leaves Very grateful to everyone for your advice earlier.
And Flower Carpet White has now started, should keep on going until December
Another windy and rainy day but the roses are opening anyway. More rain is forecasted for the night and then it should be a sunny and hot weekend. I took a little bit too many photos to document rain resistance (although 2 days are not enough to tell).
New bloomers first.
'Amanda Patternote' ('Joasine Hanet', 'Portland from Glendora' - I am almost sure these are the same rose and that is the original JH, not AP... so maybe I should call her JH). 'Scented Garden', geranium maculatum 'Espresso' behind - this has a short flowering season but beautiful foliage. 'Snow Ballet' - small groundcover rose, pure white 'Purple Lodge' opening, intensively fragrant. That reminds me, @Nollie , I would like to know what do you think about the fragrance.
Other roses
'Paul Transon' is said to have bad rain resistance. Not too bad, so far. Let's see after a couple more days. @Marlorena I think we can be almost sure that it is 'Paul Noel', DA and TW being right about this rose and PB being ignorant. 'Silas Marner' gets very floppy when wet. 'Olivia Rose Austin' keeps hiding its centers. She did this last year too and I find it annoying. She's also nodding a lot when wet. 'Minerva' on the left. Front garden purple roses: 'Reine des Violettes', 'Minerva', 'Belle de Crecy', 'Ebb Tide' (old bloom) Front garden companions, geraniums just starting ('Eureka Blue', 'Alan Mayes', 'Anne Thomson') and very beautiful veronica austriaca subsp. teucrium 'Crater Lake Blue' (try to remember that!) Companions at the back - parahebe 'Snow Clouds', creeping phlox, London pride, self-seeded foxgloves, weedy welsh poppies... I am too lazy to keep removing them.
