Compromise is good @edhelka 😊 Yes I’m sure it’s easier to keep smaller in the UK, here, not! I have renewed my determination to saw her out of that big pot this winter, having finally allocated a space big enough to let her max out.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
In the depths of winter I was very invested in knowing what Toyah was @owd potter but great that she is floriferous and hopefully the BS was only due to the odd weather. My Ghislaine is smothered in aphids too but also full of buds. Elsewhere I think the tea leaves are working.
My first Mme Isaac PereireI am pleased wth UtopiaEasy Does It is a crowd pleaserI like Boscobel but the plant is ungainly
@Tack My Boscobel has the same awkward growth habit.. it throws out a couple of exceedingly thick and tall stems with loads of blooms at the top but that makes the whole plant look unbalanced..
Pretty much all of my roses are now in bloom to different degrees.
The latest ones are
Port sunlight
Boscobel
Queen of Sweden
Eustacia Vye
Gabriel Oak (first year) is on the verge of producing its first bloom.. My Lady Emma Hamilton’s blooms seem to wilt in this weather before it’s even had a chance to open up properly.
My waterbutts got topped up a bit by some rain at the weekend. Allotment ones are running very low though. I’m really glad that I got the extra butts set up at home - it’s made watering so much quicker and I haven’t had to use the outdoor tap in ages!
@cooldoc - Was just the lighting at that time of the day I think - Rhapsody in Blue. Here’s some photos of it from today showing various colour tones.
Malvern Hills
Firsts: Bathsheba, looking very pink, Ghislaine de Feligonde, Royal Jubilee, geranium Patricia and trollius chinensis ‘Golden Queen’.
...gosh I'm catching up here, such fabulous roses everyone... love Port Sunlight too, don't see it often enough... and all those buds on Harlow Carr !..
.. it was me who was asking about the scent on certain roses.. thanks @Fire .. Robert Calkin, formerly of Yardley's and David Austin's would be proud of your prose and scent detection for sure.. patchouli was a favourite term of his... don't ask me what it's like..
Harlow Carr is going to be amazing @pitter-patter. I am seriously trying not to covet a MW, I need neither another dark rose, nor one with awkward growth. But I totally agree about EDI, I call it Harpageant in my head and then only bother remembering it if I need to.
@Littlegarden Shame you don't know the name, blackberry scent sounds amazing.
Waterbutts make my life much easier too @Mr. Vine Eye I am scanning the forecast with dismay. Keep showing me your lovely MH please
@celcius_kkw Glad your roses are looking great now. I particularly like Port Sunlight and QofS
@owd potter, Toyah is such a tease, now I’m thinking ah, looks quite like x, but M is right, there are so many reds out there so I am not going to hazard another guess 😆
No worries @Nollie It would have been nice to get an ID but thought it might be a long shot. I can well imagine how difficult it must be to positively ID a rose
