Lovely @Mr. Vine Eye . I was wondering if I could trying growing on rose cuttings on an indoor window sill. I think my three Etoile attempts from a few months ago have failed already.

@Fire - Kew Gardens was outside the whole time.  But when I emptied the Bathsheba cuttings out of their pot they only had small roots, so I brought them inside in 9cm pots. They’ve grown well on the windowsill. The larger one was ready to pot on into an 11cm but the smaller wasn’t at that point. Probably is now.

I'm very impressed @Mr. Vine Eye. I've tried taking cuttings last winter, but they died. Clearly i don't have the knack!

@Suesyn...I hope someone does have some idea as to what it is, because it's a beauty. I've purposely gone out and bought a few roses like that over the last couple of years (all failed unfortunately due to BS or rain intolerance...but I keep trying) as it reminds me of a 70's garden, filled with voluptuous hybrid teas.

Definitely agree that some Austin's deteriorate after just a few years and have to be taken out.   For me these have included Perdita, L D Braithwaite, Pat Austin and Crocus Rose.

That's disappointing to know. Why would that be for a shrub rose? I thought a happy rose could last decades.

Am I right in thinking a climbing rose could last forever as you cut out canes and they renew each year...?
