Fabulous colour on Falstaff @owd potter hope it fills out for you.
Incredible colour on Twilight Zone also, @cooldoc. I missed out on TZ last year as by the time I placed my order it had sold out. I did get Ebb Tide, same breeder, which similarly gave me me a few blooms then went extremely quiet for ages, now just beginning to bud again.
@Tack what are your reservations about Dames de Chenonceau? I thought we were going to see much more of that. I’m not keen usually on the pink rose/orange tones combo, but it is a lovely rose.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Nollie I hesitate to criticise it but it is because of its floppy necks. I have so many flowers all facing down. They are beautiful, its scent is one of my best, I love the rose, it is healthy. Actually I think I haven't watered it enough. I discovered a bit late that rain does not go into the pot at all, it has a graceful wide habit which takes the raindrops outwards, rookie error. And I was trying not to be boring about it given it would be hard to source here so have not posted it too much.
Rose of the day: 'Scarborough Fair' 'Bordure Camaieu' in front of 'Scarborough Fair', clematis 'Amethyst Beauty' 'Joie de Vivre' 'Empereur Charles IV.' 'The Generous Gardener' 'Gabriel Oak' duo
Hope it rights itself with a good watering, but please do post photos @Tack, there are a fair few posted on here people purchased from Europe last year, that may be difficult to source in the UK, from TCL, Agel-Rosen, Lens etc. The import stuff may well be sorted out at some point too, well we live in hope!
Hi, @lindseyfaulkner - do you mean the red shoot on the left of your photo? If so, that’s healthy new growth, not a sucker, so no worries! Suckers come from the root stock below the knobbly bit (the graft) and would be green and thornless. Is that fertiliser granules around your rose? They really shouldn’t be in direct contact with the stems of the plant itself. Better to scrape away the slate mulch and gently work them into the soil in a circle around the base of the rose, then water in really well, otherwise the rose is not going to benefit from them 😊
