    @Oliya
    Re Kew Gardens...  my plant sets a few hips, tiny ones, but they rarely last, usually turning black.. it's not a rose noted for its hips.. I also prune mine in early winter, so any that do form are removed as I've never had any that I would consider worthwhile as such..

    ...look forward to seeing your roses this season... Eden in particular..

    @Marlorena thanks for letting me know. I was just curious really. I’ve got Kew Gardens growing in my back garden. But I’ve only planted it this spring so don’t really know what to expect from it yet. Why do you prune yours in early winter? I thought roses are supposed to be pruned late winter/early spring.

    ...very nice Poppyfield... I expect all the Montanas will be out soon, down your way..

    @Oliya
    ..I hope  your kG grows well for you, it's a special rose for me..
    .. I actually prune roses throughout the year, depends on variety, but for winter pruning, you can prune them anytime from  Nov onwards.. If I lived in the coldest parts I might delay it, but otherwise  I like to get all mine done by mid December, except a very few that have good hips, I leave those till later,... but I'm dealing with quite a lot of roses here by small garden standards, and they do need controlling..

    Well I came back from my trip to the seaside (very nice, thanks!) to discover that Francis Dubreuil bud bent and battered by rain here. It was out in the open, but will be going into a large pot under the eaves of the roof very soon. It’s pouring down now and fairly windy - well you can’t do a rain dance then complain about it.

    @newbie77, if you’ve given new, small roses a half feed of slow release now, I would think that will keep them going for a couple of months at least, it depends on how long a full dose is meant to last, 4 to 6 months? If they are older roses that just haven’t got going much, I would’ve just bunged them the full recommended dose.

    @Oliya, welcome, great to see a new contributor. Do you have other roses as well as Kew Gardens? If not, if you hang around here for long you will do 😆

    @Busy-Lizzie, really look forward to seeing you new garden and of course your roses, your daughter has gifted you some very fine ones indeed.

    @Nollie What a start to the thread. With 2 lovely roses on either end of the colour spectrum.
    Raining here as well, but expecting frosty friday morning :'(

    @Nollie thank you for the welcome :) I actually have three roses growing in the back garden (all planted this spring): 1. Kew Gardens 2. a hip rose from my friend’s summer house. It’s supposed to have small red flowers and the most amazing hips. I hadn’t actually seen it in action. 3. what I call a Surprise rose (I got it from my local garden centre. It was heavily reduced because it had its label missing. So it’ll be a surprise:)

    @Nollie , its lovely to see a new rose thread and looking forward to seeing all the wonderful stuff on here. That Francis Dubreuil is sumptuous. They used to grow it in the Garden of Historic Roses at Drum Castle near where I live but its cold and windy there so I don't think it lasted long. It smelled wonderful!

    I've nothing new to show yet and probably won't for at least another month or so BUT I was delighted to see that all of my cold damaged roses are showing some signs of regrowth! Even poor 'Roundelay' has tiny new pink buds appearing near the base. In my garden at the moment its all about tulips!

    @poppyfield64 , your Mortimer Sackler looks nice and sturdy - a super plant!
