@edhelka, your Gertrude Jekyll is looking really good, deeper pink than mine is normally, even in the cooler, early season.

@newbie77, lovely roses, Elle is very pretty, which one is it? There seems to be two HT’s by that name.

You jest @Katsa, but it’s funny how it actually seems to work sometimes! PP has been warned, I’m just not convinced about it.

@loxley I think it is called Ramona. I did try to get the names but there are so many roses I got in a bit of a muddle.

Going back to Nollie’s question, I definitely think effort = reward when it comes to roses (and most things). Also, patience. A third+ year rose is so much better than the often awkward first and second years.

    Patience is all.

I did that too @newbie77, that’s how ended up  Eufemia, making up the numbers, though there was little info out there so it was a pot luck rose. Only had one bloom so far, so no idea how it will turn out.

Ah yes, patience, I’m still learning how to cultivate that, more difficult than roses!

Well, I just spent an hour feeding, watering and generally giving my roses a good talking to. I've bought some of the seaweed foliar feed and it doesn't half take me back to living in BC by the coast. Only managed to back yard, but will do the front tomorrow! I think I'll have to get the OH involved in the watering and feeding soon.

ooo, @Katsa where did you live in BC (have we have this conversation?)

Can I ask how you all use liquid feed? If I were to give liquid feed only my dahlias and roses I would need about 25-30 buckets a week. Having a dodgy back, I find this a challenge. Right now I am feeding struggling and newish roses (although some say that this is like feeding an ailing baby sparrow with rich chocolate cake and cream).
