Sorry @cooldoc yes it was iaincd (I think!) meant to tag about calling your rose the name you liked best (alternative to Lovely Parfuma) - flicking through the posts too quickly!
Palais Biron -much prefer this alternative name for Purple Lodge, especially since it’s more magenta than purple 😊
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Agree about the roses amongst rocks, that's really interesting planting, I don't think I have seen that before @Rickyjones24. I think your Mayflower looks really sweet and soft.
Everyone is exciting my anticipation with their LEH's! Mine has a couple of buds on after losing the first to a late frost.
I know everyone has this rose but it is still my Rose of the Day Blush Noisette. I thought I caught a whiff of scent from it the other day but I can't be certain. Sometimes I'm stood in the middle of it and cannot smell a thing, how do others find it?
A nice flower on Scentimental, the others got a bit mangled in the rain. I'm going to have to move it again this winter, planted it behind taller plants which aren't going to get any shorter.
@Victoria Sponge I love the fragrance of Blush Noisette; I can smell it even though I'm a bit smell-challenged
Haha, I must be super challenged then! I will clamber into the border later and take a smell close up. I have done so before but maybe conditions were not quite right!
'La Belle Rouge' - not the healthiest rose but very vigorous and I grow it in a way that it doesn't matter. 'Scarborough Fair' - I love this rose 'Scented Garden' - extremely reliable 'Silas Marner' - I just don't know how to grow it. The canes are tied in several places but it still droops and looks like a tangled mess. I can't imagine it looking good as a shrub. The blooms don't last long. On the plus side, there are many and the fragrance is strong, good and even wafting a little bit. I can smell it when I sit on the bench. 'Gertrude Jekyll', 'Charles Darwin', 'Agnes Schilliger' Many flowers and roses only just getting to it. I have a lot of clover in the lawn but I don't care, I am not a tidy gardener anyway.
Theres a hawthorn tree under there somewhere. A rose cutting taken from one I grew from seed that should have been Rosa filipes, but it looks like the bee had been somewhere else, as the flowers fade to pink.
@Victoria Sponge, I have a tiny, young Blush Noisette. I get a faint whiff of something, occasionally. HMF says ‘mild to strong clove fragrance’. I could never have identified clove, just something vaguely musky is the best I can do. My sense of smell has been traditionally poor, but over the last year or two it’s got better, the more I sniff the more different fragrance notes I can smell. Nose has pulled it’s socks up or roses have? No idea!
I like the cool pink and form of Agnes Schilliger @edhelka and your bud vase display looks lovely.
