@Ffoxglove I guess I am late and you already bought it It makes a perfect pot rose. 45x40 - yes, perfect. It doesn't ball for me, I get some browned outer petals but no balling.
After the rainy month of July we have finally some sun these days. guirlande rose is the first to start with the second flush. If somebody is looking for an easy climber /rambler this fits the bill. 😉.
Clematis 'Kokonoe' (only now flowering and only two blooms... but a good growth otherwise... not sure what it needs). 'Super Excelsa' cluster Gladiolus with stipa and lavender 'La Belle Rouge' still blooming but affected by the weather Scabious and more 'Starlet Melina' cluster The front garden Lavender and 'Gabriel Oak' 'Blackberry Nip'
Yes please @edhelka, I’ll take whatever rain you can spare 😆 At least your Kokonoe is alive, I had one once, it died within months. I have the same reluctance to flower with penstemon raven here, despite being healthy, bushy plants. I’ve given them a high potassium feed and hope that works.

I'll take some rain too please @edhelka, we had one good rain last Tuesday which filled the empty water butts but planting some perennials yesterday showed me the ground is dry again as the drooping hydrangeas had been trying to tell me. That is an exquisite clematis, your lovely pics of BlackberryNip are just as alluring to me as last year when I ordered it.
As ever lovely rose pics @newbie77, @cooldoc, @JessicaS@pitter-patter and @Marlorena, sorry if I missed anyboby. I've not been on here for a few days due to famiy visit and building works on the house. I love logging on with that lovely expectation of seeing familiar faces with their established and new roses, somehow so much nicer than catalogue ones. Why does nothing ever go as planned? Of 4 new windows/doors, all are still incomplete after a 2 day install, we were promised 1 day but only 1 man showed up. Missing glass/gaskets/handles and damage. And it was a 4 month wait for supply for what did arrive. The dust sheets and rolled up carpets will be lengthy features then.
@Ffoxglove you asked about the scent of Marie Pavie, delicate and light at the moment. Reports on its scent vary so much so I expect it must be dependant on conditions. I will resniff regularly with interest.
@Nollie I forgot to put Heidi into my TCL order and was convincing myself not to add it , argh. Lovely Gaura there, I just received 5 new ones but the order was so long coming I realised in the intervening period that they hate overwintering in wet soil, my flooding last winter explains that loss then. So I'll pot them on for spring planting.
Sorry for your building blues @Tack, hope they get it sorted soon. I believe it’s very difficult at the moment due to shortage of labour, manufacturing capacity and materials worldwide. My HK is in it’s second year and I’m currently on the fence about it, having praised it before. I hoped rebloom frequency would be better this year, but after a promising start, it’s very slow and doesn’t give the mass of blooms one would expect from a floribunda, more like HT frequency and blooms single more often than clusters. Maybe that will make you feel better about forgetting to order it!

'Cornelia'... 'Marie Nabonnand'.. Phlox / Alonsoa / 'Mutabilis'... Fuchsia 'Carmel Blue' / 'Thornley's Hardy' on the table..
I like how short your helenium Rubinzwerg is, @Marlorena. I was hoping mine would stay like that, but it’s grown to a bushy 4 feet. I will have to move it further back. I would really like a truly compact helenium.
