I have finally deadheaded today. Seems a bit bare without the blooms but hoping that the roses that have flowered repeat flower. Interestingly a couple of yet to flower at all, but have some small buds; Gentle Hermione, Litchfield Angel and Paul Neyron.
I loved the idea about keeping the petals on the floor, like camellias. I didn’t know about why there appear little pink spots, thank you for sharing. The more I look at the things that you all post the more I find out about roses.
Stipas are at their best The Albrighton Rambler Amande Paternotte Plaisanterie Scarborough Fair with clematis Amethyst Beauty. I am very happy with the clematis - only planted in winter but it covered the whole obelisk and is full of big blooms. This is a Raymond Evison clematis, it starts flowering early (in a warmer area or better summer, I would say early June), it should grow to 1-2m only, and it looks really good with pink roses. 'Ab Fab' is certainly living up to it's name. Looking fabulous all summer with plenty of lovely buttery yellow blooms on strong stems with no support needed, even after all the rain we've had in recent days. No hint of BS either. Pretty much perfect I'd say.
It stopped drizzling this morning so I went out with my tapping stick to try and get some of the water weight off the plants. Feel a bit happier now I've lifted and staked Celestial, Alba Max and Rhapsody in Blue. They don't look exactly as before but at least they are not a demolished mess. A chunk is hanging forward out of Blush Noisette but I will do more harm than good stamping into the border to fix that one.

My climbers need stricter training for next season, that looks great @Omori. We are due rain later so I took some photos now.Strawberry HillTGGRambling Rosie with Claire Austin and TGG behindBlush NoisetteBathshebaMy first Blackberry Nip, colour a bit darker and more purple than this

Malvern Hills - towards end of the first flush now - I'm not deadheading until they've mostly gone over, too awkward otherwise!

Golden Beauty is a rather messy bloom form, but still dazzling against Achillea Walther Funke:
Dahlias emerging too, Happy Single something..
