I have been busy with work last couple of days so havent posted here but have been reading the posts and enjoying all photos. Still unable to post photos from phone.
@edhelka, your view from kitchen is beautiful. Love all the planting combinations.
@Tack, @celcius_kkw, what magic do you do with roses in pots, they look so well grown with lots of branches and full of flowers. Except austins, I dont get more than 3 flowers at at time from roses in pots, in fact mostly only one or two flower.
I also like yellows more than pinks but have ended up with more pinks. I think there is more choice in pinks for fragrance than yellows.
I need to downsize some roses too. It is hard to choose which ones to loose. The HTs or non austins dont do so well for me as most of my roses are not in full sun so may be I should let go of some of those, but then I have two of some Austins and it might be better to give away one of the multiples, but they do like my garden heavy clay soil and dont mind a bit of shade.
@newbie77 How old are your potted roses and how big is your pot? I find that even with a small pot the Rose would still be capable of blooming quite prolifically.. the key is to feed frequently.. I use liquid feed each time I water - some prefer at half strength but I go full strength as my roses are rather large now..
Everyone’s gardens and roses are looking fabulous, such a great diversity of roses and bloom forms. Mine are a bit patchy just now, but some are starting their second flush.
Does anyone find that, with most new roses, they tend to give you an initial show and tell, then go rather quiet, while they put down roots presumably? Certainly my new HTs and most of the old roses are doing that.
Exactly the same here with The Prince, @Tack, I think I’m going to install a trellis and fan it out on that. I took about a third off the height after the first flush and the new shoots from the pruning point (marked in blue) are 65-75cm long!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@celcius_kkw thats me with CPM, its gorgeous. Just starting to climb its arch. Heres colonel mustard; Sweet Syrie Lavender Ice Purple Tiger Glenfidditch
Away for a few days, nice to come back to a few new blooms. 'Falstaff' Nov bare root in it's first year. Has a gangly, lanky growth habit which will improve no doubt as it matures. Flower heads are bowed, but the rain wont have helped here, looks like it has balled a couple of buds too. Not a strong fragrance, DA describe it as medium old rose, which I'd agree with but what a colour!!
Hi! Here are my hybrid teas, both species unknown - a very vivid red and a lovely golden yellow with red-tinged petals. Both doing much better than I expected from last year's performance.
And this white climber, again unknown, but very lovely.
I've started to review my roses for the bin list and evaluate my wishlists. Until I know which suppliers will ship to UK I have a list and a back-up list, unfortunately I am getting quite fond of some of the back-up roses too. Hopefully I can make an order with TCL next month although I want DA roses so will have to source elsewhere anyway.
On my bin list I have a 6ish years old pink rosa rugosa. It gets frost bitten and flops around and only has 6 flowers. The bees like it but I don't so I'm going to turn the area over to shady, bee-friendly wildflowers. Also getting dug out, the shrub Fountain, a lovely red but I think it must need more sun or something as it is not prolific and I have had it for years. A reprieve from the bin list, Celebration 2000. It looked terrible at the start of the year, then good for the early first flush and now terrible again but I am not ready to get rid of it.
RotD - year 1 Mousseline - I think I will like this when it is full size. As it is to be honest, I didn't notice it start to flower
Another I always overlook, Warm Welcome
William Lobb, a moss I've had for years that was either a slow starter or didn't like its previous space 2 metres away. I need to take the hit on the height next year and chop it from 7' down to about 3' to make it thicken hopefully, and less sprawly.
Kordes roses wants sun I guess.. 'summer romance' buds never open in this cold climate.. but she is a treat when she manages to go on..
Grafin Diana.. trying to open up in midst of rain.. her colour is much darker than they seem on picture..
not a shrubby austin.. but relatively upright and a bloom machine.. with a nice fragrance.. Boscobel..
Lady EH.. appears a bit orangish than in real...
Twilight zone.. much darker purple.. (more like Minerva/ Ebbtide).. produced only 1 flower and was quiet for a while.. looks like its back with a bang...
Yellow yellow... 'Poets wife' enjoying the company with her yellow neighbour..
5 days in the rain.. and still a beauty... Double delight... only rose so far with the perfect Hybrid tea shape...

Thanks Nolie, that flower bed is coming on, just need to tweak it here and there.
