I have a large wish list, but I may leave it to the fates and hold off ordering until next February. If I have definite spaces in the ground or large pots for specific roses I might do a small earlier order. I’m not going to buy in autumn to overwinter them in the unheated poly in 6L pots again, they were just too vulnerable to constant freeze/heat cycles.
I am very guilty of hasty judgement, but I do think we need to give most roses at least a full season, preferably two, to judge them fairly. In subsequent seasons, some of mine have hugely improved bloom power (e.g. Soul) fragrance (most Austins, for me) and even weather resistance (Astronomia now more wind resistant). There are always a few though, that scream ‘bin me now’!
Binned: Arthur de Sansal - a constant white ball of mildew Enroute to the bin: Alexander and Ivor’s Rose - runty specimens that haven’t improved On the watchlist: Chartreuse de Parme - blackspot and barely a bloom, horrid bubblegum colour; Forever Royal - early disease and possibly too delicate for my climate; Eufemia - just not standout enough in any way. Year 2 but still on the watchlist: Pure Poetry - balling; Burgundy Ice - lanky.
I have some climbers and old roses that haven’t done anything much yet, but they are getting a 3 year trial period.

Interesting that I am happy with CdeP and very happy with BI @Nollie but yes, different conditions. As to legginess I am surprised that you suffer it at least as badly as us here in the UK with your stronger light. Roses must have it 'in them' rather than follow the usual wisdom that they are reaching for the light. I do hope my amazingly floriferous BI stays manageable. I have Soul on order with TCL, I like my array of potted up bare roots to look at longingly and tend over winter. Prince gets another year.
My gallery of shame @cooldoc, Horrid foliage and cabbagey blooms that hang down heavily on Freifrau C Great foliage and random brown petals on Carmen W, these blooms suffered not one drop of rain, they look worse in real life. Smell good thoughPearl Drift, has nothing going for it
It’s possible I just haven’t found the right place for BI yet @Tack, I’m always cautious about putting dark roses in full sun here, but maybe that’s what it needs to counteract the lankiness. I do love the blooms. I pruned it viciously in spring and it looked much better, then grew lanky again. I might try it in the sunny position currently occupied by the outgoing Ivor’s Rose. I’m hoping CdeP will improve.
New little basal on Lady Emma Hamilton already blooming well. Inevitably paler here but no horrible stripes and spots (yet) like in previous years:

I was at Peter Beales again yesterday... yes I bought some more roses to replace my July cull... here are a few photos from the garden centre area..
..if anyone wants a potted 'Flanders Rose'.. they have plenty available.. ..this is 'Margaret Greville'... rather nice I thought.. 'climbing Westerland' in the garden, it really stands out from a distance.. the red is 'Paul's Scarlet'.. I was rather taken by this Penstemon 'Harlequin Lilac'... ..some pots of 'Our Beth'...
..no photo, but for a deliciously scented shrub rose.. 'St Ethelburga' had it all..
.. @Nollie .. well it was 15 percent discount, I think they should have given me more for regular custom..
.. I got... 'Donatella'.. which I think is a Meilland HT.. 'Golden Memories'. quite a floriferous little shrub rose... 'Pink Martini'.. a Tantau which has a good scent and nice colour and form.. I've had my eye on this one for some time.. .. and lastly 'Buxom Beauty'.. which has enormous blooms strongly scented... if you read the reports on HMF you may want one yourself..
Thanks for satisfying my nosiness @Marlorena, you always manage to come up with interesting selections. I’m only really dipping my toes into HTs for the first time this year, they’ve never really been my thing, but in the interests of diversity I’m giving them a go. I have toyed with trying another Beauty though - Spanish Beauty (Madame Grégoire Staechelin) - it would almost seem rude not to try at least one rose bred by Pedro Dot 😊

The first flush is almost finishing for most of my roses. Still a sight to behold 😊
