The wall is 3 m tall, but I could also let the rose go on growing all over the house facade (4 floors) eventually.
i thought Zephirine, and its sport Kayhreen Harrop, was a once bloomer not a repeat one! if it is a repeat flowering rose it would be perfect, since it has few thorns, or so they say.
I like Purple Skyliner very much. And I love GJ. Should I decide to keep the rose only on the first floor wall, they are the ones.
@Nollie, MAC is beautiful, but on the white wall its flower almost disappear. I will move it on an arch in the upper garden.
@Marlena I was so deluded by the Mutabilis that I think it will be years from now till I try it again. Maybe I was very unlucky, but it is the only rose that died on me in the very first year. There was nothing strange in the spot where I put it, in fact now I placed there an Open Arms which is growing rather well.
@Marlorena My knowledge is very limited about Indian rose varieties and breeders. I am from Tamil Nadu, a southern state of India where it is impossible to grow roses at home due to very hot and dry climate. The only roses I know are Paneer Rose (Rose Water Rose) and 'Ooty' Rose (All sort of HT Roses are widely grown in the Ooty and sold in markets, streets under the name of 'Ooty' Rose). It's traditional to have flowers in the hair on a regular basis, the combination of Jasmine(loads of varieties) and 'Ooty' Rose goes really well in my opinion. I have enjoyed having flowers in my hair which I badly miss by being here. Please let me know the name of the rose that you're after from the Indian breeder and I will see whether I could get it for you. I have checked the laws already with regards to bringing plants to UK, as long as it for personal use there is no problem.
@Marlorena Slow, but healthy and growing. I think it is one of those roses that need 3 years to get going.
I've been taking photos but not posting them... Looking at photos here but am behind on reading the posts. Some recent roses:
'Kiss me Kate' 'Narrow Water' 'Agnes Schilliger' - less full blooms than earlier but stronger colour, the leaves are all new 'Gertrude Jekyll' 'Chippendale' 'Gabriel Oak' 'Blackberry Nip'
Mutabilis was a last-minute substitute for another rose that was out of stock, so I didn’t consciously choose it. Plus the supplier didn’t charge me for it or the original it substituted so I wasn’t too bothered when it died. Now I really want it, like a kid being deprived of something it didn’t really want in the first place 😂 I better get a move on and order it before stocks run out!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
