Urgh, please reassure me it will be fine, I just made a right hash planting my new pheno geno. I bungled getting it out of the pot and chunks of soil fell away then I realised it was too far back and had to move it forward... I couldnt see any broken roots, and its in full leaf and bud but poor things roots have been shaken about being planted. I used plenty of root grow, its had a good water and I will feed it shortly too.
On a better note, albertine and my white rambler were starting to get powdery mildew again, and I found a load of yellowed foliege inside behind the front layer of branches- I realised although my pruning in winter had given better airflow at the front, there was no ventilation at the back by the fence or above so the breeze wasnt passing through! It smelt musty underneath so I took out a load of growth at the back over the fence and above inside (I cant see the flowers etc there anyway!) And instantly felt a blast of fresh air blowing the stale air away. Ive blasted with rose clear too but its looking better already, and from the front dosent look any different, still covered in buds. I'll maintain that flow over the fence going forward!
@JessicaS...in which case I shall leave mine in it's pot for another couple of weeks. Trevor White does recommend only taking it out of it's pot from early June onwards to allow the roots and compost to bind together.
Well at least I know what I'm looking out for this year @Omori. Last year when I noticed 'em flying around I just thought they were curious little bugs, not realising the destruction they were capable of reaping.
Thanks, everyone. It was a lovely sunny day, t-shirt weather finally. Yes, it is fairly local for us, 50 minutes drive. Not local enough to go again this year for roses in flower (2-3 weeks, I think) but I absolutely want to see the garden in other seasons. The perennial beds were also lovely. Oh, and they have meconopsis, but only in one bed. I would like to know the reason why they don't have more. Anyway, I absolutely need it I love the position of the garden - a south-facing slope above the Conwy valley. The slope makes it interesting - both the more formal terraces and the woodland planting around the river. And they benefit from a warm microclimate (we are much colder and rainier on the other side of the mountains).
Rainy day here today. Hot weather expected on Sunday and onwards and my Gertrude Jekyll is almost flowering... 2-3 days to go.

It looks like it. But Wild Edges is the top entymologist to ask if you want to check.
