    @JessicaS
    ..no, not had either of those two reds, but 'Heathcliff' was withdrawn by DA very soon after release, literally 3 or 4 years, reasons unknown, but suspect it didn't perform as well as they hoped.. but that shouldn't put you off..

    I think Nollie has LD Braithwaite.. they still have this in the DA gardens and it looks nice in photos I've seen - but then it would..  unless it's been taken out since of course.. and we should always remember with those DA gardens, they have drip watering cables underneath all those rose beds, so they never go without..

    Must remember to refresh the pages, sorry missed your post earlier @JessicaS. Yes I have, well had really, LD Braithwaite. I dug it out and gave it OH for her office. It’s fairly large, sprawling but with strong canes if that makes sense. The blooms were a true red. However, it was fabulous in it’s first year, OK in it’s second but a miserable stingy bloomer in the third. Not every Austin is happy here, but that one declined rapidly.

    @Daniel Rutherford has LDB and I think also Heathcliff, so perhaps he can advise you better. Hello Daniel, haven’t heard from you in a while 😊

    I think LEH and LoS (I have both) are sufficiently different in bloom form, habit, foliage etc., LoS is a steadier colour, LEH is fairly changeable according to the weather. My view is that MW is not tidy enough for a pot, as a trio in the ground it works better.

    Thank you both thats super helpful! :)
    I suspect munstead is not to be for me as I dont have space for a trio and it does sound too untidy for a pot. I definitely want another dark red for Albertines bed.
    @Nollie ah great you have both - I was hoping you'd say that about the colour! Would you be able to put up Los pic as well please? Your LEH does look gorgeous. My garden does get very hot at the back so It'll be interesting what they look like in your very hot garden.

    @SeahorseFriend Thank you! Its a shame its a once flowerer but its very pretty when its out! its rambler friend (Ive forgotten the name, I think it might be wedding day) is even more rampant so they prop each other up! I pruned both harder than normally in winter and they have both responded by more blooms than ever... Its prone to blackspot and both to powdery mildew, so I shall take some more inner branches out in winter.  I'll take a picture out of the window as they both completely cover the shed.  The birds love them, and the sparrowhawk sits on it to sun herself sometimes!

    Sniffed Eustacia Vye for the first time, was surprised by the scent of lemon floor cleaner? Not unpleasant at all, but not what I was expecting 🤔

    @Omori I thought Eustacia Vye is advertised as 'best for fragrance' in the DA site :s
    I love the fragrance of Gertrude Jekyll, Desdemona and Jude the Obscure (in that order) the best among my roses.

    And then my heart with pleasure fills,
    And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

    @Nollie Thats so helpful thank you! I think LEH is definitely firmly on my list then, I like the pink tones too.  No way does mine get that hot as you say! ;)   Would you think it would be suitable for a pot perhaps?
