@Eustace ... thank you.. it's a different rose.. larger growing, more shrub like.. about 5 x 5 feet, tops.. quite healthy and scented. I've had it several years..
Your Mme Antoine Mari is a fabulous rose for you @Marlorena, earlier in the season I had added it to a cart but luckily saw your comment about its size before buying.
Lovely colours there @Nollie, from a distance they must still look lovely, Not too shabby close up either.
Roses in the garden only have sparse blooming at the moment but plenty of blooms in pots
New Zealand has a gorgeous scentMillie, Wildberry, Snow Ballet, UtopiaEdit to show my seedlings, I am inordinatley happy with these.
Excellent, @JessicaS, look forward to seeing your Mini Eden, didn’t know TW did that, could only find it’s big brother on their website. Not sure how related it is to BB, or just a marketing thing. I got all excited seeing a ‘Purple Eden’ (anything with purple in the title will do that) on a Belgian rose site, until I looked it up and it was just a synonym for Ebb Tide.
Nice to see Aimee Vibert @Marlorena, I’m looking forward to getting it and also getting my delayed rose fedge off the ground - can’t dig at the moment, have done my shoulder in yet again, might have to get a local daft laddie in to do it for me. I have to seriously fillet my list though, so may have to drop Sombreuil - it’s between that and Adelaide d’Orleans and I think the latter will suit the fedge better.
Lovely subtle colours @Tack. Getting sparse here too, just scattered blooms now, Julia Child and Marie Pavie being the exceptions.
I have far too many similar-toned deep pinks and one of the following three (all currently in pots) really has to go. Decisions, decisions..
Unfortunately, I’m liking Pure Poetry again, later blooms are less full and all the better for it, plus it has a good bushy habit and clean bill of health:
Still liking Heidi Klum a lot, although it could be more floriferous:
Chartreuse de Parme, nice bloom for once, but very stingy bloomer for me so far, plus coarse, gangly habit and not great health:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Tack New Zealand looks amazing, I think I need that one...and I would be over the moon with excitement over those seedlings! I'm looking forward to what yours turn out like, what did you say the parent was?
The seed parent was Carminia @Omori and the foliage and scale of the seedlings seems similar. I had to force myself to nip out a bud on one of them about a month ago, it was hugely stunting the plant, about a third of the size of the other one, it is catching up fine now.
@Nollie Difficult decision but there is always room somewhere! Having used 100l to water just the patio plants this afternoon I get that potted roses take some maintenance. Bottles of feed don't last long either. Funny that my best roses currently are the pale ones as I think most I own are strong colours. The Prince is packed with buds...very exciting. Has Soul stopped? How is it looking? It is on my autumn order.
@Tack, yes the watering (and the overheating) of pots is an issue and I dread to think how much I have spent on liquid feed - they seem to need this regularly on top of the miracle-grow granules, so whittle I must. Does anyone actually stick to their new rose year’s resolutions though? Judging by my current head count and the length of my wish list, I reckon I’m bottom of the class!
Soul is just coming to the end of it’s second flush, which was pretty battered by fierce, monsoon rain like everything else, but is gamely putting out new buds. Overall, the second flush is less impressive than the first, but the first was so fabulous it’s worth it just for that imho.
If any rose is doing well or underperforming it’s difficult to know if it’s my climate, my soil, my care or the rose itself, so in reality, anything I say about a rose should come with a large health warning ⚠️
Lady Emma Hamilton has been blooming rather lackadaisically this year, but has decided to rejoin the Oranges and Lemons party:

..very impressed with your seedling roses @Tack ..if they have buds then you know they are repeat blooming roses.. so that's a winner..
@Nollie ..I knew Aimee Vibert was a late starter but August is a bit ridiculous... not a rose for the instant rose gardener.. I hope it gets going earlier next season..
'Dr. O'Donel Browne'... 'Eustacia Vye'.. 'Scented Garden'.. 'Lady of Shalott'.. through Stipa gigantea, Aster 'Monch'.. 'Kew Gardens'..
I feel that this gardening year was not as good as last, the weather has been all over the place.
I wasn’t going to make a TCL order but now I’m having second thoughts and will probably make one 😵💫 We’ll see 😬 You all have posted so many beautiful roses that I’d like to have!
Well @Marlorena, at least you have a bloom, my Duchesse d'Auerstädt hasn’t given me a single bud yet and looks like a sprawling spindly spider hugging the ground, not a single new basal to train. OH keeps asking me when I’m going to plant up that huge empty bed she occupies with Mme. Alfred Carriere. The latter has one new basal at the front as far away from the fence as it’s possible to be and only two blooms to date.
Actually can I pick your brains while you are here? I’m thinking of ordering Lady Hillingdon and Mrs. Oakley Fisher to fill the gaps at the front. Lady of Shallot will be going in there too. The bed is 18 x 4ft, does that sound too much, two climber and three shrub roses in that space? I rather fancy it being full and tumbling with roses. I think it’s quite fertile there as it’s the old septic tank drain area, heavy enriched clay enriched further with lots added organic material.
PS - the alternative is some quick win floribundas/modern shrubs that could cope with only a few hours of morning sun, depends how patient I am feeling!
