@celcius_kkw, you’re so right there, I have had lots of untypical first blooms in both new and established roses this year. Some of my oldies have been paler than usual to start with, the reverse of the normal pattern as they are usually start darker in cooler weather then get paler/pinker as the temperatures rise. MW is following the usual pattern, tho - currently dark but should turn fuchsia in summer. I’m putting it down to weird weather playing havoc with pigments!

ooh, now i cant wait for my roses any more. That Heidi Klum is so beautiful. Even my rose look alike camellias are finishing now.

I bought a bouquet from supermarket and was surprised to see how many days it lasted. But then i got bored of it too. I enjoy picking flowers every other day to make fresh ones. Hopefully in 2-3 weeks time...

..either way, I think that Heidi Klum is a beauty....  @Nollie I'm being honest by saying that I hope my Golden Beauty is a richer deeper colour than yours, that's why I got it.. I'm going to be a bit disappointed otherwise..  I don't think I've ever seen it in the flesh before, so to speak..

... great to have an early rose flowering isn't it and autumn colour as well, that's a bonus.. love once bloomers as long as they withstand rain reasonably well...  is that rose thornless?  maybe a few at the base?  as it's thought to be similar to another rose out there.. so I was just wondering, thank you..

Gorgeous roses, I can’t wait for mine to start blooming. Aphids are having a feast at the moment, haven’t seen any ladybirds in the garden but plenty in the house!

@poppyfield64, I have just got back from RSPB Leighton moss nature reserve in Silverdale where I saw a male and female bullfinch for the first time in years, it quite made my day. Was delighted to see another one on this rose thread. One of my all time favourite birds!

@Bright star they are one of my favourites too.  I have males and females that come for the sunflower hearts every day along with Goldfinches and also had my first pair of Siskin in the garden this week too.  My husband bought me binoculars for Christmas and I have them set up permanently at the kitchen window so I can enjoy them from indoors too.

Lucky you! Many years ago my hubby and I used to be proper “Twichers” and would travel miles at the drop of a hat to see a rare bird that had been sighted in the uk. That all stopped when the children came along, but we continued birdwatching with them and took binoculars whenever we were out fell walking. It was great to combine our 2 favourite pastimes and some great days out with lots of happy memories.
