Good to see a photo of your Open Arms @peteS. I have just planted a bare root of this and it’s only just starting to wake up properly, I love the simplicity of the flower and it’s bee friendly too. How does it grow for you, did it put on much growth in 1st year? We visited Peter Beales roses whilst we were away and he had it planted in several places round the gardens, he was obviously a big fan of it too.
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
@newbie77 It’s the proper weedy one, also have nettle, dock, and willow herb there. It’s in a wild corner I keep near the bin storage with a log pile, etc. I’m not a tidy type of gardener 😜
@Omori , I have a wild corner too at the end of garden by back fence. Not really my choice but I never get time to sort it out.
My rose of the day today is Abraham Darby. Right now it looks and smells great. Will see how the plant goes later in season. I dont know why my photos come so big. Any tips?
Versigny rose
Emily Bronte
A Shropshire Lad
And Peony Festiva Maxima. First time in past 5 years it has opened and its not raining
Though I have to say it was more fragrant on humid/rainy days, not so much today
@Katsa the answer to your question ages ago is 57lt capacity but I use 32lt pots for bare roots, small roses or ones destined for the ground (or ones I suspect I'll shovel prune).
Lovely to see roses in Seattle @Lena_vs_Deer , gorgeous part of the world, one of my best holidays was touring Washington State when my son was a student at University of Washington. It looks like your garden makes the most of its beauty.
Too many lovely roses to namecheck but I agree with @Nollie, we are being given the varied feast that was promised during the winter. Apart from Desdemona, so many of us have that, I will be sharing mine tomorrow, probably.
Here are my two... Easy does it ( same bloom as yesterday) this morning and this lunchtime, followed by absolutely fabulous this morning and this lunchtime:
