    That’s a stunning clematis @Marlorena, unusual colour… do the petals fade to all white?

    @Marlorena Luckily the Bullfinches have left all the buds alone but the Wood Pigeons on the other hand have had a feast on my cherry tree which had half as many flowers this year than normal.  Your Miss Bateman is lovely.  We planted one last year but it died before we ever saw flowers.  I think as it was on a slope it wasn't retaining enough water.

    Thanks @Nollie.  Your Love Song is a lovely colour.  Does it retain this even when fully open?

    .. nice colour Nollie...  I wish there were more roses of that colour..

    @Bright star
    ...yes somewhat,.. the green bar in the middle fades to a creamy colour, but it's still nice..  it's thrown up lots of new stems this Spring too, despite the weather..

    ... great to have an early rose flowering isn't it and autumn colour as well, that's a bonus.. love once bloomers as long as they withstand rain reasonably well...  is that rose thornless?  maybe a few at the base?  as it's thought to be similar to another rose out there.. so I was just wondering, thank you..
    Yes, it's a good doer--although once-flowering it has loads of flowers and keeps opening them over a long period; they shatter but not too fast, and no sign of balling on mine (this is my 2nd plant because I liked the first at my old house so much). Mine seems largely thornless. It reminds me of a magenta Stanwell Perpetual on steroids, but without the repeating.

    @Nollie, love song is nice colour. I have got it too last autumn and looking forward to lavender colour blooms.

    I’ll let you know @poppyfield64, it’s new and the first bloom, the real test will be in summer of course.

    I would’ve loved Lavender Crush or some of the lavender roses Kordes have but all are exclusively for the US market, frustratingly. Delbard do have a few lavenders, I think, Marlorena,

    @Eustace Yes, potted roses could do with liquid feed every week or two.. this time of the year roses are growing very quickly so it wouldn’t do them any harm, if your rose is newly planted you could feed at half strength instead. Don’t forget to water/feed even if it has been raining too, potted roses can often form a canopy above and rain may not get to the base.. as a general rule I would water/feed at least fortnightly even if it has been raining.

    @Nollie Yes i noticed the colour change with temperature too.. many seem to go a deeper shade of colour when it gets cold..

    @Bright star have you thought of hand picking the ladybirds in our house and place them on your roses outside?
