Had a week of Eglantyne flowering now, mixed feelings on it so far. I'm not too taken by its orange tinge as it opens, but quickly fades to lovely blush pink. It makes a lovely cut flower. I bought 3 as potted plants earlier in the year, healthy, but thin spindley specimens from jones the rose. The plants can't support the weight of the flowers at all, but I'm hoping they improve over the years? The initial colour isn't easy to blend and doesn't really work as I have it next to darcey bussell. I bought 3 Darcey B as bare roots direct from DA, they have been the worst bare roots I received, with most of stems dieing back, but new shoots have emerged from under the ground, to be fair one has now produced a simply stunning flower, which no photo I've taken has done justice to, but it doesn't go well with eglantine. Else where in the garden, a mass of mayflower, eustasia v, gabriel oakbuds are starting to open but a lot of the mayflower buds are deformed sadly, no idea what's happened there. Gertrude is about to burst open too which should be good.
Just caught up on the last 88 posts as I got behind again. Everyone's gardens are looking wonderfully summery!
I have a smattering of roses flowering but nothing new and nothing in full bloom, I think I will run out of time for two flushes this year.
CPM looks a really good colour @JessicaS, mine has no buds but after it melted back in the late frosts I'm glad that it is at least looking healthy now.
I like your unknown rose in the 'thicket' @Eustace, it's really sweet. I hope you find out what it is.
I remember a few people bought the DA Buttercup last year, how are they getting on? I'm casually on the lookout for a new yellow
When are you not casually looking out for a new yellow @Victoria Sponge? 😆 I’m looking forward to your new roses this year, you had some interesting and unusual picks I seem to recall. Sorry you are having to wait so long for them.
@Rickyjones24 I don’t think those two look too bad together, but I agree peachy tones and red would be a bit weird. I never used to like the combination of red and white, but if the red is cooler - more magenta/purple - I like the combo better.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

Haha, didn't think anyone had noticed that! I do like a nice yellow.
Yes, am waiting not very patiently. I'm really excited about some of my new roses but I don't want to put them so high on a pedestal that they cannot live up to my expectations.
I know what you mean about high expectations @Victoria Sponge, I had those with Chartreuse de Parme, but, like @newbie77 am so far underwhelmed - unremarkable fragrance, unappealing bubblegum pink here and slow to rebloom.
Newbie77 - Love Song is very lovely, I think, do keep posting photos as it develops, same with CdeP.
Early impressions aren’t always fair though, while some seem to get off to a cracking start, producing lots of lovely fragrant blooms immediately, many need a season or two to get into their stride. Of all my new roses this year, tying for top spot in the cracking start department are Marie Pavie and Purple Lodge.

I am finding Chartreuse de Parme very underwhelming, it has grown well with buds but has been a mildewy mess, now it is over that it is all crinkly, we will see. Dioressence, Freifrau Caroline and Arthur de Sansal are similar but at least Arthus has flowered. The Prince has some ground to make up with me too. It is tall and sparsely foliated but has buds on top.
Teasing Georgia and the flower bed this forum inspired me to create during lockdown. Eye of the Tiger, Rhapsody in blue and Sandringham in there too
Lots has taken off here. Wollerton Old Hall is a great big floppy thing but I do love it. Here with Burgundy Ice which is gorgeous, velvety and with a silvery reverse. I will do better with a photo in future I hope.Lots to like about Eglantyne, Charles Darwin and England's Rose (just)The foliage on Utopia is lovely
@Rickyjones24, I'm surprised you're getting an orange tinge to your Eglantyne, mine's very pale blush/cream/pink on opening then a bit pinker, but still quite pale. It's 5 or 6 years old now I think, on clay soil in full sun. Perhaps it will change with age, it is a beautiful rose. I feel the same about one of my newer ones, Silver Jubilee, too strident for me but Marlorena recommended I keep it for at least 3 years as the colour gets better so it's reprieved for this year.

@Nollie, your Daphne is looking great, I can almost smell it. my Daphne has started to get buds. Looking forward to it.
Rose of the day is love song.
chartreuse de parme rose, underwhelming so far. Will see how it goes.
A Shropshire lad. Not much impressed with fragrance but flowers are beautiful
New Zealand, loving it's fragrance, reminds me of some telecom powder from my childhood.
