Thanks @pitter-patter, it's an actaea but I don't recall which as I moved them around and then lost two. I had a look online at the ones I had, Chocoholic, Brunette, Black Negligee and Hillside Black Beauty but they all look the same to me
@Tack this is my Grafin Diana.. repotted her in winter from a much smaller pot last
autumn.. she struggled a lot with the early spring frosts and came back
with strong basal growth..
New growth with lots of buds...
Her neighbours... from front to back.. Well being, Rachel, Comte dC (my take on Austins 'rainbow' stand at Hampton court)
Rachel.. usually has a strong neck.. but the huge blooms in cluster plus the rains proved a bit too much for her...
Desdemona.. smaller blooms with spindly neck/ new growths..
Eyes for you... more purplish than white on the outside.. probably the cool weather..
Thanks @Victoria Sponge, bit early to judge I guess, but glad PAZ has a good fragrance. If you like orange and pink then it goes perfectly 😊
Sorry for all the rain everyone has been having, but I wish you would send some over here, it’s been my driest summer in 5yrs.
I popped Pure Poetry’s pot in the border in front of a now over clematis to cheer up a boring bit of the border. With Eyes for You, Verbena Bon Lollipop, Gaura, Rosemary Prostratus (which likes to climb the wall) and Harlow Carr starting it’s second flush:
Soul also starting a second flush, this is my favourite Tantau rose, a healthy, generous bloomer and the best fragrance:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Bit late to the rose eating party but a few years back did enjoy some rose flavoured ice cream on a hot day at Mottisfont. Completed the all round rose day out 😄
The flush is over and strong new growth is developing but not a lot of blooms. Rain , rain and rain ... nevertheless my mother is moving house and we have found an intruder in her future garden. ( rose of the neighbor) - any guesses for an ID?
@Nollie I am loving the only Tantau rose that I have.. good to know soul is doing good as well.. flowering and fragrant wise, how does she compare to munstead/ prince?
I bought this rose in a random garden Centre in west Wales. I know it’s a long shot but can anyone say if it’s a variety? The label is Dutch and just says polyantha. It’s got lovely ruffle double blooms but a visible stamen… it’s like a warm apricot in colour.
'Our Beth' I am shocked how it improved this year. Red roses ('La Belle Rouge') and red monardas ('Cambridge scarlet') Foxgloves are almost finished. I deadhead the big stalks and leave the side shoots to self-seed. Not on all plants, that would be too much, one or two white and one purple is enough. I don't grow fancy varieties... it is much easier this way.
Unknown HT And the standards - 'Super Excelsa' 'Marie Pavie' getting ready for the next flush. Isn't that foliage lovely?
