Thought you might like to see the progress of 'Chianti'. Countless number of buds on it now, so maybe mid June when the flowering starts. It's nice and healthy and is obviously not bothered about the lack of direct sun it's getting, so I'll probably plant it in the ground in the Autumn.
Thanks for the names of the dark Astrantias, @Bright star and @Omori. I have been having an internal battle for ages over whether to order some from a very mediocre French nursery, the only place I can find them available.
@Marlorena I give Ivor’s rose a 50/50 chance, but mainly due to health, the roots had barely developed when I planted it out, so not surprising it was stunted up top. I really hope it takes off and defies it’s poor start in the world.
Wonderful photos @edhelka and a nice sunny day too. The roses and the training details were really interesting. Must try and get there the next time we visit the relatives on the Llyn peninsula!

First bud on Deep Secret, looks promisingly dark:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
..the withering state of The Prince still seems to have a presence about it...
.. @edhelka ..thanks for posting those photos of Bodnant, I've never been there... wonderful roses so well grown... I think the pink no tag is Princess Anne.. rounded foliage.. I suppose it's quite local to you, so very handy.. hope you get there again before too long..
.. @peteS .. yes doing really well, so looking forward to your Chianti and T Superb too.. I'm going on your Westland thread in a moment..
@Fire ..your no i.d. rose is quite intriguing.. lovely foliage.
Loving all the blooms here, @edhelka can only imagine how beautiful the garden would look in full bloom.. loved the way they have trained the climbers/ ramblers
@Nollie Julia child is looking fab, mine is 1st year (few months old) and can see some buds on it. Single bloom wise my fav so far is 'The Prince'
@celcius_kkw l envy your 'Desdemona'.. Got buds on mine too, but yours seem to be lot more bushier and bigger, don't tell me its her first year.... all my roses (except 3 of them) are less than a year old.. so can't compare..
@Marlorena 'Nye bevan's future sales depend on your expert opinion... so no pressure there..
something that I found on my roses today, not sure if the Hawthorn beetle is damaging for the roses..

I really like Guinee @Fire, deep and mysterious, just how I like them!
@cooldoc you should get a good showing on Julia in your first year, it’s really floriferous and vigorous. An excellent doer.
Yes The Prince is strangely attractive even in a state of dissolution.
Feel like I'm not properly replying to everyone's lovely photos, it moves so fast!
It is.. Hawthorn shield bug/ beetle??
