@Omori...do you know if both male and female are alike, I can't find anything conclusive on the 'net. It would be very handy if they are, as they are fairly conspicuous. And yes they are horrible, ugly things.
Lovely photos @edhelka. We had wanted to go to Bodnant whilst we were in North Wales last September but ran out of time unfortunately. We were staying near Harlech which meant another day trip to get there. Next time hopefully. My Blue for You is very close to opening, maybe tomorrow if we get another sunny day. Today's been a disappointment, very cloudy with frequent brief showers, I've been in and out like a yo-yo.
@celcius_kkw I felt exactly the same when i leant in for a sniff of Blue River (id'd as that until informed otherwise, it looks more likely every time I look). The scent took me straight back to a warm summer when I felt happier. Isn't it funny how our sense of smell is the most evocative of the senses?
Bordnant looks worth a visit @edhelka, nice pics, thanks for sharing.
There is progress on the rose front, feels painfully slow but such a lift to spirits.
On the balcony- Pearl Drift and Diamond Eyes Pots on the patio- Odyssey and EglantyneIn the garden-Bathsheba
Lovely photos all. I feel like I might miss mine opening, as we're away for a few days mid week. Maybe get some before then.
I did something stupid this morning...
I wasn't feeling great, and after dropping the boys off at nursery was panicking over whether I'd locked the door or not. Part of me felt sure I had and it's a real rush to get to work on time on a Friday. But I ended up driving back home to check anyway.
Reversed up on to the drive in a rush.
Crashed into Desdemona and cracked the pot.
Fortunately the damage isn't too bad. It's a plastic pot, the car would have come off a lot worse if it had been stone! The pot rim is snapped off on one side and there's a cracked section, but I should be able to gorilla tape it from the inside to stop it leaking. The rose seems ok! Stressful way to start the day though!
”It is a wonderful combination of old and new reminiscent of traditional English roses with a strong perfume to match, yet this is a modern rose with incredible disease resistance, dense foliage, and an abundance of flowers. The orange blooms are pure and sharp in colour, plentiful in quantity and have the most enchanting fragrance…£2.50 from every sale will be donated to the Born Free Foundation.”
Just biding my time...I’ll be filling up this thread with constant bloom photos at any moment. There’ll be an unstoppable surge of them due to having to wait so long! 😂
Had my first jab today, Pfizer. All good so far, barely felt it. My first injection since Secondary school immunisations!

Astronomia is going to be another good doer to rival Julia Child, I think, plus it’s now developing full clusters:
