    ..is this Alfalfa Hay something you get from horse stables?  I've never used it.. use as a mulch I suppose @Nollie ?..

    ..for pelletted, I use Vitax Azalea which appears to be identical to the DA brand which I can't always get.. but I'll use anything I can get my hands on these days..

    ...thanks Lizzie.. very sweet of you.. x

    @Omori
    I've made another order with Macplants... I've spent a fortune with them this Spring.. couldn't resist.. trouble is, I prefer to plant in groups of 3 these days, for quick effect, and it soon pushes the costs up..

    I haven't received my catalogue yet either, bit upset about that, everybody else seems to be getting theirs.. I didn't get that nice card they sent out last autumn either, I saw it on Instagram..  maybe the lockdown got in the way..

    I have one Crimson Glory that has done nothing at all for three years (rose replant problems in that spot, I think, after taking out a Golden Showers). But there are now lots of lovely new green shoots, so fingers crossed that this is the year. I will feed regularly (promise to self) and cross everything.

    @Marlorena I order in threes as well, does get rather spendy, but then this is my main hobby (so I say to justify to myself...). Are you feeling better?

    I am way behind schedule. I haven't yet managed to plant out everything. I have booked 2 days off on 16-17th, I will then plant and feed. First time using granular feed. I have bought Wilko one.

    @Marlorena, no the shredded, dried alfalfa hay is for brewing alfalfa tea for liquid rose feed, more usual to use pellets but the hay will hopefully do the same thing, just bulkier to store.  I’ve posted this before but the plan is to use the recipe below (I have all the other ingredients) then subsequent feeds of seaweed and potassium sulfate during the blooming season. I anticipated difficulties with getting the DA rose food this year and was keen to try the alfalfa tea anyway. The Vitax alternative to DA food was the azalea one you posted last year, with virtually identical NPK/additions, but so far, haven’t seen that here either. I have miracle grow for the pots.

    @Nollie
    ..oh I see, not at all what I thought..  but with all those impressive ingredients I expect you to have superlative roses this Spring Nollie..   sounds like a fun thing to do providing you don't mind the smells, storage and whatnot..
    ..I think Omori and Edhelka have been doing something similar if I recall..

    ..pity you can't buy it already prepared, like from Amazon,  as the recipe gives for small batches too, I would definitely be going for that..   do you give a gallon of this tea to each rose then?..

    ..that is what I keep telling myself too...  I know it's just a feeble excuse really..

    A US gallon is just is under 4 litres, so yes, a quarter of my 12L watering cans per rose, storage isn’t an issue but keeping the dogs off the roses might be more of a challenge!!
