    "G Rozanne takes a long time to show up, being deciduous... better evergreen cover to be had from Geranium oxonianum, G riversleianum and G cantabrigiense varieties.. always useful to have a selection of those I find..  Another evergreen beauty is Geranium traversii."

    How great!  Are any of these particularly long flowering? Thanks.

    @edhelka - Oh I really liked the scent. But it’s not something I could sniff all day long, it’s very strong. I left the two pots in the dining room and it was powerful. I think if I were to cut them and bring them in I’d just take one or two. I can understand completely why some might not take to it. But unusually for daffodils these were quite sweetly scented I found.

    I bought them at the start of the visit so went back to pop them in the car boot, when we arrived back at the end and opened it again there was a huge waft of scent.

    @cooldoc  - because I’m at the stage now where I’m having to rip out existing roses as there’s not enough room for all the other plants I want - so I just have to look but don’t touch!

    Thanks for the comments everyone! Its slowly coming together. Waiting on a few evergreen shrub orders to help make it more all season. Ordered more hellebore too, cant resist them.

    @Marlorena thank you! Pleased with it for the money, £25 ish and quite sturdy. Bigger than expected and moved a few times before finding the right spot! I like the view to the arch.

    @Mr. Vine Eye I am impressed with your willpower ;) Lovely narcissus too, ive had those ones in the past and love the fragrance.

    @nollie do you protect your wisteria buds from frost? I read the buds are tender and clambour about trying to fleece them when its forecast but I cant find how tollerant they are! I see them all up houses though and they dont bother. I dont know anyone else with one! Mine started life as a 2 litre pot with a little stem. Its a named etc one ("Tiverton") from a nursery but its certainly grown!

    Burton Agnes looks a fabulous place to visit, how lucky to have it nearby @Mr. Vine Eye. Lovely display of daffodils, but I must admit I am not a fan of them with roses, those beds look forced and artificially stuffed to the gunnels to me.

    I already have more roses than planting space. Space is hard-won and expensive to create via raised beds, given my soil is too shallow and poor otherwise. Not sure I would have resisted that tempting Felicia for the price, though!

    @JessicaS no I don’t protect the wisteria (sinensis) at all, it withstands my freezing nighttime temperatures no problem. It does benefit somewhat from the protection of the east sandstone wall.

    We had a few inches of snow blanket all the tender growth on the roses today morning. I am in two minds whether to go clear them with a brush or not :-(

    I couldn't quite read the labels but thought I saw a Felicia and Zephirine Drouhin.. two thornless roses..

    @Fire
    ...those Geraniums all bloom May to Sept, except cantabrigiense which is May to July..

    Severe frost last night.. everything was wilting for a bit..

    @owd potter
    ..nice big bud... looking forward to seeing that one..
