Well we shall just have to be patient then Mr. V. I guess different soils/PH will produce variation in foliage colour. Does anyone grow MW own-root? Maybe that’s the difference in cane thickness and vigour (guessing wildly here). Photo 2 looks a more likely candidate to me. Here is mine:

Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

Hmm did a minor edit of a different type and it posts correctly, so weird...

My MW for more comparison. Maybe 2.5 ft tall at present.

Yours has red leaves. I think mine also was red in the beginning, I can't remember now.
All the cuttings seemed dead. Will try again this autumn.

@newbie77 I’m probably quite behind you, being in the norf and all.

Looks like tonight isn’t the last freezing night, yet again...I think I should stop checking, too frustrating 🥴

Has anyone first hand experience of 'Mme Isaac Pereire' It'll be for a prominent position at the back of my sunny border, probably growing up an obelisk, so I'd like to know if it is a reliable flowerer and whether the blooms have a wet summer tolerance...and good disease resistance.

@peteS My experience with MIP is it blooms in flushes, the autumn flush is the best. Rain resistance is average, disease resistance is not its strong suit but I don't find it problematic.
