It's not @chicky . The Celts did it millenia ago tho not in the tacky way the US manage to transform all such occasions and lose sight of their meaning.
SM run was fine and no-one misbehaving. Got everything we wanted but it was busy and the traffic was too.
Fruitless afternoon searching for winter footwear for Possum. She wanted ankle boots with grippy soles and wide enough to tuck her jeans in at the ankle. I found a gorgeous black pair but the tongue had silvery bits on it so, despite that being mostly hidden behind laces, they were rejected. It also seems 80% of the available styles are synthetic and made in China. We gave up. She'll look online.
Managed a raid on the Vietnamese store for Asian goodies - Gochujang paste, pak choi, mango chutney which eclerc doesn't do and then popped in to see Mme Boiveau who runs a sewing machine, patchwork fabrics and haberdashery shop. Proper treasure trove and I now have the doings for my Twister quilt project. Just managed to stock up on straw and feed for the chooks before that shop shut and got home at dusk to find them all tucked up - 2 on the perch!! - so have shut them in for the night.
Big clean up and refresh in there tomorrow and in the house too.
I hope you can get loads done @Busy-Lizzie. Such bad timing for you and the family but there will be vans to hire in December surely.

Back from hols and CdeG closed up for winter as it were. Bit of a downer all round but trying to stay positive and think ahead. Learned from the last lockdown that a bit of a routine is necessary and forward thinking. I'll try.
We made soup from all the leftover vegetables, froze what food we could and then all sat down and ate leftover cake. A nurse came in, a regular and sat and cried, she's seeing front line stuff and is not in the least optimistic about where this is all going to be end. But, all we can do is make the best of it. Ever onwards as it were.
Hugs to everyone, each and everyone of us is dealing with individual trials and tribulations one way or another.

Optimism is key @D0rdogne_Damsel. Hope you can stay focused on everything good. I think this country is sleepwalking into another serious wave. England probably more so than up here or Wales. I used to like Hallowe'en when the girls were little, although I think it's become a bit competitive with mothers these days, which is a shame. If people can find a way to make it enjoyable and safe for children I don't see the problem, and I've certainly had a good laugh at some of the garden decorations while I've been out. I doubt we'll have many kids out round here. The weather isn't looking very great, and most of them are a bit older anyway. We [the girls] only went to the people we knew, and I think that's what most of them still do. I have to face going to the shops later. That older fairylet being off on holiday is a right inconvenience
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I sorted paperbacks this afternoon and took 6 big carrier bags full to the recycling.
Then I went and tidied up 1st OH's grave and put a pot of chrysanthemums on it, that's what the French do for Toussaints, end of October. While I was there daughter 2 rang my mobile. She confirmed that she can't come on Saturday because of the lockdown and she said my house phone didn't seem to be working. I knew it had been playing up, sometimes cuts off after only 2 rings. So I went back to the SM and bought new phones, also picked up the summer duvet from the cleaners. Forgot it this morning.
I've just rung OH on the old phone and it still works for ringing out on. I hope I can set up the new phones, not my sort of thing, it's OH's job.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hello everyone. Best wishes to all who are having lockdown problems. We’ve been lucky here on the property.
Nothing different in our routine except making allowances for weather doing strange things. One day it’s covered with dark threatening clouds and then clear blue skies. I’ve decided to leave the washing out until I’m ready to bring it in. 🙄
im still wearing a mask when in town and get strange looks from some people.😃 Our region hasn’t had any reported incidences of the virus, but our town gets traffic moving from Sydney or Canberra going either to the ski fields or the coast to Merimbula for sea and surf.
Off to town today for visit to see Hubby’s oncologist who now travels to our town instead of us having to go to Canberra, 👏👏 - much better.
Pixel is being very affectionate. It’s lovely having her here. We will miss her when our son comes and takes her back to Canberra on Tuesday or Wednesday. He said that he keeps looking for her until he remembers. 😁
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ hello @Pat E 😊 overcast and damp here ... but apparently we have a warm plume of air arriving for a couple of days ... wonder what the plants will make of that 🤔
