    Morning all/afties @Pat E.
Not sure what I'll be doing today, but possibly out for a little while with daughter. It's fairly vile here. Hopefully there's not too much more flooding in the N.East. Makes a change for them to have it worse than this side. I don't think we have any damage though.
I understand what you're saying too @chicky, but I'd have chosen seeing my parents only, and not having my sister and all her family visiting, [or us visiting her] if it had been the situation. No question. :) My sister will be making that decision if nothing changes, as two of her children live in different parts of the world. It's just a question of priorities, and to hear some of those callers, there are definitely some people who just seem to have lost sight of it.
I see we have spammers again on a peony thread if anyone wants to look, and flag.  :/

  • Morning all,

Off cycling today, although the forecast says sunny and at the moment it is most definitely not.  :/

Having read @Dovefromabove 's post above I thought for a minute I was on a cookery forum.   :)

I agree with you @Fairygirl it's all very tricky. Everyone has different problems to deal with as a result of this awful disease but some seem to think their woes are worse than anyone else's. I have one girl that works for me with kids in London (grown up ones) and she is so angry about the situation, getting herself so upset, all very difficult, I am sure it is not helping. We are all having to adjust our way of thinking.

    Lovely cat @Pat E :)

OK, off to test the weather.

    Good day to all.

OH is pleased to report that W'rose appear to have cornered the market in small cauliflowers ... they have one fewer now  :D

@D0rdogne_Damsel ... I also post regularly on a cookery forum ... I've been posting on there about growing asparagus and raspberries (amongst other things) and on here about cooking ... my life is definitely not compartmentalised 🤣

Hello again everyone. I’ve been having a very lazy day today. I’d better get myself moving tomorrow or the scales will jump up without warning.

Good morning everyone.   Dull and grey here and it has been wet overnight but should stay dry for the rest of today so hoping to get some shrubs planted this pm.  Watching Saturday Kitchen at the mo while I finish embroidering an Xmas tree.  It's to be the model for a patch club project so needs doing early.

No early planning of Xmas meals tho.  Possum expects duck breast with red wine and juniper berry sauce, gratin dauphinoise and broccoli.  Chocolate fondants rather than Xmas pud as only OH likes that.   Just the 3 of us as I have no family now and OH's siblings celebrate with their offspring and grandkids.  Even if we were still in England we wouldn't see them.

I can see it's going to be hard for many @chicky but best to think about long term health and safety rather than focus on one notional 24 hour period.   Maybe plan an "end of covid" celebration to roll out when there's a vaccine?   No point getting stressed about things you can't change.  Concentrate energy and focus on what you can do.

I find growing food and cooking it go hand in hand @Dovefromabove or at least understanding seasonality and regionality and thus what goes with what.

Hope it stays dry for your daily waml @Fairygirl .  Haven't seen any news yet but hope any flooding isn't too devastating for those involved.

I'd keep your secret to yourself @Pat E .  Good to see Pixcel enjoying being outside.

Hi folks,  Miserable, grey, wet day here.  No gardening on the agenda even though I have bulbs and violas to plant.  Woke up to a speeding fine on the door mat.  Shouldn't moan as it's my own fault (but I will).
Don't know how Christmas will work this year.  Between Covid and Secondborn's separation things are more complicated than usual.  We will try our best to keep to the rules and regs but there's no way anyone will be left on their own on Christmas Day.

B*mmer @Yviestevie. Told you not to buy that Ferrari....
Hope you're doing ok considering your recent circumstances. First Christmas will be the worst for daughter, even without the virus conditions. She'll be fine - I'm sure   x
@Obelixx - young fairylet will have a minor meltdown if she doesn't get her profiteroles for Christmas dinner. Her simple pleasure  ;)
I love C'mas pud, but rarely have it at the time. Don't think older fairylet is making a cake either. Better for my waistline. Well, it would be if I knew where it had gone....
I forgot that the aforementioned fairylet was bringing me home a coffee after work [another sweet pea pot]  so I'm having that just now, and then a walk. The rain and wind have eased, but I don't think I'll leave the waterproofs behind after yesterday.
Are the chooks producing eggs regularly @Obelixx?

Now that I've finished the kitchen jobs the bright morning has given way to wind and drizzle ... I will not be planting the last bulbs today ... the forecast for tomorrow is sunny ☀

Wet and miserable here. Done my HW so this afternoon I can stew the remaining apples I have and maybe make some more crumbles to freeze (I forgot to buy some of those little foil trays - drat). Neice going to video call later so we can do some drawin/craft ‘together’.

Have a a decent day all - keep cosy and safe.
