It was my turn to have the family this year, 4 children and spouses and 13 grandchildren, but I won't be hosting because of the house move. The family are taking some of the beds so I won't have enough. Covid is another reason, I don't think that many will be allowed. Rule of 6 at the moment but not obligatory and no one knows if children are included. (France)
I went to son 2's last night as they are away for the weekend, to babysit overnight for their 4 small children. Turned out I had to babysat too for Son 1's 3 little girls so I took them with me to son 2's. There was a lot of excitement, finally got them to bed at 11pm. Then the 3yr old little boy woke up at 7am because he had gone to bed earlier.
Son 1 had loaded up a van here with furniture I can't take then drove back to his place with his wife, 5 hr drive. They unloaded it this morning and are on their way back here.
I feel exhausted already. Daughter 2 is coming this afternoon with her family to clear out her bedroom and see her brother. I've just been making up beds.

It all sounds very busy and exhausting @Busy-Lizzie but it will be worth all the hassle to downsize before the move. I don't see why children wouldn't count as part of the 6 but I can quite see that such limitations are going to be very unpopular in France and Belgium where they enjoy big Xmas Eve feasts with family and/or friends.
OH and I have been out and planted a stag horn sumach on the higher of the pond banks and a wee willow with curly leaves on the pond edge. Then it started to rain ahead of schedule so I went and cleaned the chooks' bedding - still not perching - and gave them an undersized spaghetti squash cut in slices. Good stuff.
@Obelixx, children don't spread Covid as much as adults and are more resistant to it than adults that's why some feel they shouldn't be part of the six. Also, if you are a family with 4 or more children you wouldn't be able to see anyone else, not even a grandparent. But 2 families with a child each could meet, so that seems a bit unfair or brothers and sisters who want to see each other at Christmas who have more than a child each. In France it hasn't been made clear, maybe on purpose.

I know @Busy-Lizzie. And France does encourage large families but I can remember Matt Hancock saying he has 3 kids so that meant only one grandparent at a time could visit or be visited.
Looks like patch group may be sparse on Monday. We have a committee meeting in the morning for 6 of us but it remains to be seen how many turn up for the session at 2pm. I know one is ill and one has said she prefers not to risk it and others are, in theory, looking after their grandkids. We'll see.
Possum has cooked dinner this evening - delish. I could get used to this.

Morning all. I’ve woken to warm feet! Pixel is curled up on the bottom of the bed. 😁 I could get used to this. It’s raining outside. Perfect start to the day. I might stay here for a bit longer. Hubby is quietly breathing beside me, so I know all’s well with our world. 😁
She sounds very civilised @Pat E. OH gets the Cosmos alarm just before dawn - prodding, poking, purring and very insistent about getting his breakfast.

I’ve been out to check the rain gauge - 8mm. Things are looking up. 😁
I stopped to pull a few weeds out of the veg garden, and got a head rub on the wrist to help me. She was very keen to help with each one. Lovely girl. 😁
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ and hello @Pat E and Pixel 😊
We have a bright morning after torrential rain last night. It was so loud on the westfacing bedroom window that we had to turn Brain of Britain final up ... I was very chuffed ... I got one more right than the winner 😇 🤣 ... but of course I answered any questions, I didn’t have to wait for my own to come around ... nevertheless OH is dead impressed!!! 🤪 and I probably need a bigger hat 👒
Today we will start shuffling pots on the terrace to move the more tender ones and any fragile pots into a more protected spot.
Baby plants will go into the cold frame and the plastic tunnel cloche will go over the row of Swiss chard ... it’s pretty hardy but giving it a bit of protection will give us more pickings through the winter.

Morning all/afties @Pat E. Warm feet is always a pleasure. I've put the other throw on the bed now, as I often get woken if I'm cold, and I'm too mean to put heating on I don't do as much sewing now @Obelixx, especially as I did it every day at work, but that material is really funny. I think I'd find it creepy though - glowing. Nice for a child though. I thought the unicorn reference was going to be about Scotland - that's our national animal. Mythology and all that malarkey Wet and windy here again, but it's supposed to clear up for a few hours. It's not too bad now. Washing out?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Tools cleaned and put away so now I'm off to sew - Convergence homework to finish and a top for Possum.
