Hi everyone making use of the hour to finally catch up again. Very belated Birthday wishes to all those I missed. Hope @Hostafan1 is recovering well. Just received some very sad news here, my old plot neighbour died on Weds. He was originally from Sicily and despite being here for over 50 years had a very heavy accent which could be hard to understand at times. He was a professional gardener all his life & still worked up until about 3 years ago in spite of being over 80 by then. We all learned a lot from him, even his method of tying up bean sticks so the wind could not disrupt them was simple but so effective we have all adopted it. His plot was always immaculate until this year, when he stopped coming in part due to the covid restrictions & in part as his own health took a downturn. I did not see him the last time his son brought him, but others said his rapid decline was a bit of a shock to see, apparently it took 10 mins plus to get him out of the car. We wont be able to send anyone from the site as numbers will be so limited. WE all know this is the cycle of life (& death) but it still brings it home just how precious our time is.
You'll miss him enormously @Allotment Boy. He clearly gave so much knowledge and advice to so many people. How many of us can say we've done that? A life well lived is the phrase, but it was a life well valued too. Â
@Biglad I think bog trotting may be the order of the day here when I go out. The waterproof trousers weren't really needed yesterday, but I'm taking no chances.Â
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I got away with it yesterday, because it stopped for a good while through the afternoon. Went out a bit later. It's one of those sun/rain/wind days all at the same time just now. The wind's a bit lighter though - not the gale force ones we had yesterday, and the previous night. Just the usual 30 +mph ones nowÂ

You obviously have more sense! They knew they'd get a soaking (going at the time they did) but went anyway. Like a pair of toddlers diving into puddles
I spent many years working outside in all weather, all year round, so, like a good Boy Scout, I'm always prepared Still doesn't mean I don't get caught out now and again thoughÂ

Enjoyed watching Julia Bradbury walking round Balmaha and Inchcailloch the other day - Britain's Best Walks on ITV. It was hard to recognize the old place - blue skies and sunshine for goodness sake, who ever saw such a thing!
We have had 15mm of rain overnight followed by a sunny morning but now it's clouding over and going to be wet.  OH has gone off to play golf and is trussed up in waterproof jacket, trousers and over sock thingies like leg warmers but not.
I am staying warm and dry except for a visit to check on the chooks and take them fresh pumpkin seeds - Crown Prince in wedges and roasting in the oven to make Thai pumpkin soup. Yum.
Lovely of Pixel to help you @Pat E. Possum has Cosmos all night - playing under her bed, then sleeping next to her legs and "playing" with those whenever se turned and then he came to see us at dawn, wet and cuddly and hungry. Lovely boy.  Minstrel is so much more peaceful.  The dogs have their own bedroom in the annex.
Clever old you @Dovefromabove . I did find the glow a bit odd @Fairygirl but fun for a wee lass. Sorry about your old allotment mate @Allotment Boy but sounds like he's left a legacy of good memories and techniques. Way to go.

They were still in high spirits when they got back though - I guess getting away from me for a couple of hours outweighed nearly drowning
