Morning all/afties Pat - glad you're getting a bit of rain now, although I expect you could do with more regular, persistent spells. Something we take for granted here. Wondered where you'd been @raisingirl. I struggle to find enough to do in the garden at this time of year. It's fairly self sufficient. That will have been a lovely day for your dad @chicky. Glad you had a nice day for it. Rather 'dampish' here too @Dovefromabove. Waterproofs will be required for a walk today. I thought of you when I read about the cars being towed in Wales the other day @Hostafan1. That's what needed everywhere when selfish folk just abandon [not park] them and block narrow roads. Hope it cost them plenty to get them back.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Good morning everyone. Wall to wall sunshine here for the next few days except, maybe, a dribble on Friday morning. Temps in the high 20s and getting warmer. That's OK but I shall concentrate on early and later gardening and midday to mid afternoon shady activities.
Still no going out and socialising here because nearly everyone we know is in the same boat and staying safe for their own sake or for more vulnerable family members. I can understand people feeling the need to get out into fresh air and open spaces but not doing it irresponsibly and leaving cars, camping gear, rubbish and excrement about the place for some other poor sap to deal with.
Your day sounds lovely @chicky and great that you can all get together safely. Plenty you could be feckling here @Fairygirl but I suspect too hot for you. Hope you have a good day today @Hostafan1 to make up for yesterday. Rain and snow sounds great @Pat E. I hope it fills your ponds and seeps deep into your soil.
I'm off to water my pots and see if Mr or Mrs Wood Pigeon have babies yet. They've been keeping an eye on me from a beam in the potting barn and I need to check if the sparrows are still busy in the hen house roof cos I really want to get that finished.
Have a good day everyone, rain or shine.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

My Sis is a clever sausage. She feared there might be some quarantine issues so she filled her freezer up before going to Spain and has a supermarket delivery coming on Wednesday .
Looks like Belgium may have to go back into lockdown or at least some restrictions and France is considering closing certain bars and nightclubs in areas where cases are rising again. Reminders about hand washing and distancing too. People are relaxing too much.

Hello all! Have been reading back to see what you are all up to, all very varied depending on weather and distancing. I'm just making soup - not quite the temperature for it, 38 deg later this afternoon! OH has dug out some old GH shading which I'm going to try and use to shade my tomatoes which are starting to scorch and turn white in places. It should have been done earlier but OH couldn't remember where he put it - just in a cardboard box somewhere. I see our new Prime Minister @Obelixx has said he doesn't rule out another lockdown. Have a good day everyone, I must go and finish my soup.
Morning all, Weather is terrible here, but it was forecast. Have tickets for Hidcote tomorrow and will be visiting Kiftsgate too. Have been before but Bestie hasn't, hopefully the weather will be much better.
Firstborn and the family are in Menorca, they have a villa there. There have only been a handful of cases on the island since the beginning of the pandemic. I agree with locking down the mainland if cases are on the rise but think it's stupid to treat the Balearics and the Canaries the same way when they have much, much lower numbers than we do. There are four adults there, all teachers which will cause them a lot of trouble. After an absolutely terrible stressful time, working long hours with no protection at all they were desperate for a break. They should be back at work for exam results and sorting out the new term in a couple of weeks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the government will look again at the islands and lift the quarantine restrictions.
Secondborn and family are in the Lake district visiting the boys other grandparents. She's a teacher too and will be returning for results.
Haven't tried on my wedding dress (I dyed it the week after I got married married and the result was awful, so it went in the bin). I have been trying on my stash of jeans however and many, many pairs have shrunk over the past few weeks so they have gone into lockdown until I can stretch them again
Hope everyone has a good day whatever you are up to.
