Yes, you’re right Fairy. Now there are 3 cases in Canberra, so my two kids need to be extra careful. Another situation has arisen at Merimbula and that’s rather close for our area. We might need to use the food in our cupboard and not go shopping. 😳
I have read back, I enjoy it so much even if I don't get chance to join in. Lots of good news, birthdays and jolly walks and people buying plants and getting better. 😁 And fingers crossed for the house sale @Busy-Lizzie, what is the plan, a smaller house in France or de-camp completely to the UK? Sorry if you've explained already and I missed it.
So busy here it's unbelievable. Everyone is loving the new terrace, it's been full all day today, I've taken more money today than ever. It's a bit scary actually. We had 4 staff on all day and we only just managed. I've still not swept or mopped the kitchen floor, I've a delivery tomorrow morning at 7am so thought I'd do it after he's gone before anyone gets here at 10. Just needed to sit down. Can't decide if it's just curious people coming in to see us after lockdown or whether this is the new norm. If it is I need more staff, I can't manage these long days at this place for much longer. So difficult to predict. And also difficult to find good staff.
Anyway, garden is looking lovely.
Must sleep now. Take care all, hope the weather improves for you all. It's lovely here although a bit breezy.
P.S. Charlie is very proud of the fact that we're selling his lettuces in the Tearoom, not as a whole one but in the salads. Delicious.

That looks very naughty but nice @D0rdogne_Damsel and well done Charlie for growing the salads. I'd have thought there were a few spare, experienced staff about at the mo tho and desperate to work.
Fingers crossed @Busy-Lizzie . You'll need all hands on deck to clear and sort and work out what you need to take with you for you smaller new home. Got anywhere in mind?
Good to see you popping in @WonkyWomble - same problem with rings here now I have slightly swollen arthritic knuckles.
We took a while to get going this morning and it's getting very hot now so no energetic projects but we have managed to get the door re-hung on the hen house so that it fits. The battery pack on the power screwdriver has died so all done by hand and with a consternation of sparrows watching every move. There are nests under the tiled roof, most accessed from outside but at least one from inside so we're going to need a sparrow hole somewhere or a sparrow colony nesting box on the outside.
We're off to a local nursery this pm to see if we can find dusky red salvias for the silk tree bed and then we're planning to go and do that nature reserve walk that's been rained off for the last month.
I hope all the wet stuff clears up UK side. Feel free to send a good, soaking storm our way.

We've worked the cake off with a bicycle ride, it must be 3 years since I've been out on a bike apart from hiring an electric one last year for an afternoon. Very nice but I need a sit down now. 😱😁

Lovely photos DD and good news Busy-Lizzie, fingers crossed it all goes through. Does the French inheritance laws also apply to English folk who've bought over there or only to French citizens?
Went to a little farm near by nice to see all the animals, did rain a bit, they are doing a lot of building and have done up some new fences and gates went to the chicken area so many different sorts so pretty colours, a few same sort of what I have the Marbar ones came over to see me so nice, One broody one sitting on eggs in a little room where you can view her so cute
Think it was Obelixx I like the sound of the pale colour paints - any pictures of your soon to be chicken house
Why does everything happen at once? I haven't had any offers for the 2 years the house has been for sale and now I've received another offer, cash buyers, more than the other people offered. The first people have a house to sell. I asked my notaire what he thought and he advised the second couple, which is what I thought too.
I have seen a house I like and I'm going to visit some more next week. @D0rdogne_Damsel I will be buying a smaller house in France, nearer Riberac, between son and daughter.
@Lizzie27 that law is for French residents, those who pay tax in France and live there for 6 months or more a year.
We enjoyed lunch with my sister and her OH in a dining pub in a pretty village in Essex.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
OH and I have been to the local nursery and found some salvias - 3 each of Royal Bumble and Love and Wishes to help fill the space under the silk tree. Brought them home for a good drink and then headed off for a walk on a new beach where La Tranche becomes La Faute-sur-mer.
Wide sweeping bay, golden sand, clean with no plastic or other mess apart from a couple of pieces of driftwood. Not too many people and dogs allowed. To get to it you have to use a raised wooden walkway from the road across a salt marsh nature reserve so we'll be going back again and again with the dogs and off season to see the birds.

Enjoying a dessert on the terrace with Charlie now.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
