Thanks @punkdoc and @Dovefromabove. My daughter has told her to get in touch with Macmillan, I do hope she does. My daughter is a great support to them both at the moment, she has her humorous moments to cheer them even though it's difficult for her as she was furloughed and then lost her job!
Well, we've had a lovely day out. Made such a change and really cheered us up. Journey up the old A4 was good and it was heartening to see that Marlborough and it's Saturday market was well attended, nearly as busy as usual. We were however late for our 1pm reservation as the road was closed really near to the pub - most frustrating. Luckily we knew the diversion and phoned the pub to warn them we were running late. The pub/restaurant was very well organised, new tables/umbrellas/seats out in the garden but we opted to sit in the conservatory. I opted for a tomato/basil/mozzorello salad, followed by Gressingham duck slices in orange sauce, baby veg and French fries. OH had a Caesar salad, followed by a delicious steak. No room for puds unfortunately! We tried to walk it off along the Thames river walk but that was very narrow and quite busy. A quick trip to the churchyard with my begonia basket for my Mum's grave and a dash into a GC on the way home for rose fertiliser completed our outings for the day. A long round trip of about 130 miles for lunch out seems bonkers but it was worth it.
Back from a happy day, appropriately distanced in our family's garden in Oranmore, having a picnic and a much-appreciated catch up with the granddaughters (who must be a couple of inches taller than when we last saw them!) and our daughter and SIL. It felt so good to see them again! The weather was lovely for the drive, too.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Great that you could see your family @Liriodendron even if no hugs allowed. I do hope your son and DIL can find help and support in these difficult times @floralies.
Funny day for me. Too hot and dry to plant or transplant so I contented myself with making cucumber, pea and lettuce soup for lunch, watering recent plantings, butchering then watering a couple of mock orange in our mixed hedge and watering the veg plot - squashes, strawberries and so on. Dinner was interesting - home grown beetroot baked with garlic, a yellow courgette griddled with chillies and coleslaw made with our own red cabbage all dished up with naked (no bun) home made pork burgers.
Hope everyone's had a relaxing and/or satisfying day.

Sound like lovely days out Lizzie and Lirio 😊 and Obelixx’s day sounds satisfying 😊 im tired so I’ve come to bed and am listening to a song thrush singing in the sunset.
Night night all. Sleep tight. 😴

Good evening all, from France. We got back, I hope safely - there was no distancing on the plane, it was almost full. I wasn't expecting the middle seats to be used. The landing was dreadful, a huge jolt, made everyone shriek.
The garden is very dry, but I haven't lost as much as I expected. I've done some watering tonight.
We stopped at Leclerc on the way home for food and veg. I had to clean out the fridge before putting everything away.
That sound a good day out @Lizzie27, I think I would have chosen the same meal as you.
I've got used to the querty keyboard in England, I keep making azerty mistakes.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning everyone 😊 ☕️ 🥐 its a glorious morning here ... I hope the sun’s shining again for you too ☀️ The grass needs cutting again ... but OH is working today ... it’ll have to be done tomorrow or Tuesday... today I’ll do a bit of deadheading and tidy the pots etc on the terrace so there’s room for us to sit out there too 😎 Glad you’re home ok @Busy-Lizzie ... flying’s not my favourite mode of travel ... I suppose that at least with a bumpy landing that has to be the worst but over with. It can only get better 😉

Sunny and already hot. Too dry for planting and transplanting so I shall potter about the house after I've picked some dahlias and watered the pots on the terrace. Then I need to think about a celebration dinner for tonight - 4 year anniversary of signing contracts and deeds and becoming owners of this house and garden.
Hope everyone has a sunny day at last.
