Sounds like a new career path is opening up before her @floralies ... I worked with children and young people with severe LD ... I can tell you that helping out with their youth club was the most fun Iād had in years š Their impromptu performances of āGreaseā were amazing šĀ
I started off temping as an office based Team Assistant and ended up as a Family Supportworker contributing to assessments, arranging and monitoring packages of care, attending educational and support reviews and doing direct work with some of the young people.Ā
Fascinating and fulfilling work and certainly no two days were ever the same.Ā
Not brilliant pay of course, but you canāt have everything ... and I couldāve accepted a bursary to qualify as a social worker had I chosen to, and then of course the pay wouldāve been better.Ā
Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
back from the dentist, and the root has gone. It was about 14mm long, much longer than I was expecting , but sooooooooo glad it's gone. @Busy-Lizzie, " no mouthwash for the first 24 hour , twice a day after that is ok, Corsydyl is bestĀ , but I'd suggest salty mouthwashes as often as you can is the best thing "
Good stuff @Hostafan1. That'll keep you quiet for a whileĀ 2 x 15s for yesterday @Dovefromabove. Questions didn't suit me at all. An 18 and a 27 today though. Much better. I'll award myself a cake. Or I would if I had one..Ā Good plan @Obelixx. I have a white Weigela which has flowered a bit better this year. I kept moving the poor thing, so it's probably just glad to be left alone for a while.Ā I missed your earlier post @Yviestevie . These things are a drag. I had a little lump on an eyelid a while ago, which prompted a visit to the doc. I think it was from pruning back a patch of small euphorbias, even though I had gloves etc. I must have got it on my hand/glove, and transferred.Ā The optician said to come back to him if it didn't go. It took ages though. As long as you don't have anything too serious, it's not so bad.Ā Ā I've done some very exciting things - cleaning the filters on the hoovers. Removing the layers of 'hair' from the bristles is always a thrill. Youngest fairylet seems to shed beyond all control.Ā
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I missed your post @floralies.Ā I'm sure your daughter has many skills which can be redirected or maybe she can take the opportunity for a change of focus.Ā Unfortunately, she will not be alone so lots of creative thinking needed by government, councils, employers and people who need to work.Ā Ā Worrying times.
This morning I lifted the onions, all now hung to dry on my new rack. which worked brilliantly for the garlic.Ā However the soil was so dry and hard I've persuaded OH he can't fork it over to make way for my cavolo nero and PSB and he'd have an easier time forking out bindweed and apple mint roots from the new bed.Ā
Meanwhile, I am pottering and have come in to find out how much space a cercidophyllum needs cos, despite being re-potted recently and watered regularly my baby's leaves still have a tendy to go crispy.
@Fairygirl Secondborn is the same.Ā Her hubby has OCD and he is forever unblocking plugholes and cleaning vacuum cleaners the amount she loses she should be bald by now yet she has lovely thick long hair.Ā I've been out in a very damp humid garden.Ā Lots of blackfly (the wasps are loving it) and much more blackspot that I'm used to.Ā I've done quite a bit of deadheading and potted on a load of foxgloves.Ā I've also sowed some rusty/orange foxgloves (don't normally go for unusual coloured flowers, much prefer natural shades) I needed some spikes in an area of the garden where pink/whites etc wouldn't look good.Ā Not sure if I'll like them but it will have only cost me a packet of seeds.Ā
Good news about chicklet, well done to her @chicky. I hope the haircut is good. I hope @floralies daughter finds an enjoyable job soon. Must be hard after working at her job for so long.
That bed looks and sounds full of promise @obelixx.
A fat lot of good it was phoning people today, forgot it's Bastille Day.
I'm very hot, come in for a break. I've been pruning, weeding and cutting back the beds and shrubs on the kitchen terrace. Two big barrow loads so far. The barrow is the big one I used for hay. Strange to come back to a place with no animals. The grass in the paddocks is very long. I must bury Tigger dog's ashes, they are still in his place at the bottom of the stairs. I expect the ground is too hard now. Maybe I'll scatter them where he used to watch the horses.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Yviestevie Did your eye problem relate to any new plants you've handled, my Mum's face used to swell up if she went near certain plants, mainly primulas but other things also affected her.
