Sounds amusing @Steephill. Good morning @Punkdoc, looks like you're on the mend then. Commiserations @Hostafan1 @Dovefromabove and @Obelixx - I actually had a snooze later in my recliner, after my first brekkie and before my second! Beach celebrations sound fun @chicky
It occurred to me later @Dovefromabove that we're now allowed to stay overnight. Not sure if this an option for you both if OH's Mum is still formally shielding? Although to my mind a week earlier than officially won't make much difference.
Anybody I've missed - good morning, late as usual!
Hello all. It's been another busy day. Been outside a lot, pruned the grape vine, could hardly get out of the living room door. The purple sage and the lavender hedge had met in the middle of the path up to the flower garden from the pool, I've been cutting it back, not finished yet. I've pruned a buddleia and a ceanothus Gloire de Versailles which were covered in dead flowers and which should have been hard pruned in the spring. The solanum has gone berserk and it blocking the septic tank. The man is coming to empty it on Monday so I will have to deal with the solanum before then. Thank goodness is has been cool and cloudy.
Apart from that I've arranged for an oil delivery, the woodworm and asbestos etc inspection of the house, the septic tank inspection man and the septic tank emptying man. The Dutch buyers are coming with the agent, who is English, on Friday morning to meet me. The swimming pool cleaning man is coming on Friday morning too.
Off to cook dinner.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Been a busy day here too. OH has carried on quarrying and forking over the new bed while I potted on, pruned and sorted and then got two clematis and a hebe planted before I stopped. Discovered we have a wood pigeon nest in my party/potty barn with a pair taking turns to sit on eggs. That's a full set then.
Swallows and redstarts in the cave and ruin, redstarts in OH's barn, sparrows in the house aves and hen house and, as I discovered yesterday, under the supposedly bird proof tiled roof of our new shower room! We've given up going in the cave and hen house while the birds are busy looking after young (and the adults shout a lot) but the pigeon pair has been remarkably calm and quiet so I left them some bird seed and water when I stopped.
Good luck with all the house sale formalities @Busy-Lizzie. PITA but worth it for a smooth sale.

Yes we could stay, but as OH works in a busy shop he wants to avoid going on his mum’s house if poss. It’s only a two hour journey so not bad. Especially with a sit down and a meal and a natter before coming home.
Yep beach huts go for that around here too ... and you can’t even sleep in them. There’s something very wrong with the way British society is organised 😒 night night all ... sleep tight 😴

Hi everyone. Not much going on here, but the “rain” has turned into smirr, so nothing happening in the garden, just a nuisance to be outside in. We are thinking about getting a handyman to fill in one end of our eastern veranda with a solid floor and glass walls. This is so that I can have a little mini glass house-type thing for my tender plants without needing to go out to the garden. 😃 Just thinking about it so far. 😊🤔.
Our "American Style" fridge freezer has died. Mercifully we've a spare old fridge freezer in the garage so had to take everything there. Now need to buy another which has to fit in the same hole in the kitchen which seems to be 10mm narrower than most " American Style" fridge freezers.
Grey windy and warm, was 17c overnight. Plants arrived yesterday from Mail Garden, so some potting up to do today. Undesided, on doing the washing, have just watched BBC breakfast, 2 forcasts 15 minutes apart one saying cloudy, the other sun! Last 2 days have been warm sunny, did cloud over around 5 yesterday, the forcast was rain
