Don't you ever leave windows and doors open @Hostafan1?
Yes, but we live next to a dairy farm, so flies are a problem we have to deal with.

💡 Maybe you need a few of these planted strategically on your boundary https://www.livescience.com/51947-corpse-flower-facts-about-the-smelly-plant.html

I was going to view a cottage on Thursday, looked really nice inside but then the agent told me it is a farm cottage in the middle of a dairy farm. I cancelled the viewing. I grew up in a farmhouse surrounded by cows, then I kept Jersey house cows, then horses. Had enough of flies.

We looked at one house and you actually had to drive between two of the cow sheds, and then across a cattle grid to get to it !! No thanks

You could have had a part time job doing the early morning milking ... no driving around following caravans full of grockles and looking for un-numbered addresses 🤣

@Dovefromabove one of my friends in France had a plant like that, it reeked. Her garden was rather wild and had some woodland. It just appeared, she invited her friends to come to lunch to look at it, looked amazing but gosh it stank.

Think @Hostafan1 should have a few on the far side of the lake ... that'd keep the flies away from the house  ;)

    Morning all.

Your heating bills should go down now the door is fixed, @Hostafan1...   :)

Those steps are gorgeous, @chicky.  Building dry stone walls is fun, but will it be a retaining wall?  Needs a bit of thought if so...

Not sure what's happening with the mail from Foreign Parts.  Ordinary letters and cards seem to be getting through with no problem, but I've not yet received the paeony seeds Obelixx kindly sent in June, and the RHS magazine has dried up since the April edition...

Wall-to-wall rain here so more paint scraping must happen, I fear.  Our predecessors here must have slapped on a coat of gloss on the woodwork prior to putting the house on the market, without doing any preparation first.  Some of the top coat peels off like sunburn... so we have to remove it all.  Eight door frames in the hall... a bit tedious, but there's the test match to listen to on R4 long wave.   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
