Morning, havent been on here for some days, madly busy, 2 days up at 5 cooking, visiting (disabled) sons, youngest daughter back at work, so full on "babysitting" mode, (they dont stop eating!!!) 2 days of very fine rain, a few quite heavy showers, YET, when I walked the dogs yesterday, came home absolutely soaked". My stuff for planting which is under a Silver Birch, was a s dry as a bone, (hope neighbours cant see me out in the rain watering!!)Picked the first runner beans today. Dahlias are all now bursting forth.Have booked to go to Wakehurst Place Ardingly on Monday, meant to be lovelly (weather that is)
Woken early this morning by the dulcet tones of builders outside our window. Did I really used to get up at 6am every weekday ??? They are making good progress - all very exciting 🥳.
No gardening today as going down to visit Dad - first day for a while that sitting in the garden looks to be a feasible option 😎. Hopefully we are about to get our summer back 🤞🏻.
Good morning. As predicted, our two day heatwave is over and we have cool grey bits today including some drizzle. Set to stay dry now tho and then sunny but not baking for the next week or so. Normal Vendée weather patterns rather than climate change drought and scorchio.
Pottering indoors this morning then planting this pm and lots of watering in.
Sounds like the late swallows who nested in the cave have managed to hatch their eggs so we're staying out of there for a while. Half the downstairs of the ruin has been out of bounds for weeks now as the usual occupants are nesting and rearing but fewer nests than last year. Sparrows still busy in the roof of the hen house as well as the house eaves. Tits all very busy too. Green woodpeckers shouting a lot - where do they nest?
Have a lovely day everyone, whatever you're doing. Hope you get some sunshine.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Morning all/afties Pat if you're there. How are things going down under? I didn't hear anything on the news today. Great that you're so busy @D0rdogne_Damsel , even if you're totally Kerry Packered. Looking like a bright day again here after some more rain overnight. All the haw and rowan berries are orange-ing up. No sign of the oyster catchers when I was out, but all the ducks were tootling around near the pond up the road. The young 'uns are all the same size as mum. I always find it funny how quickly birds mature physically, even if they still behave in that daft juvenile way. The sparrows are particularly good entertainment. Might get a few things done, but there isn't really that much to do out there. Garden is fairly self sufficient unless I'm taking cuttings, pruning and trimming, or working on a project. Glad the builders are doing a good job @chicky. Enjoy your day with your dad.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fingers crossed @Pat E. That's the last thing you want. I just find it incredible that some people still don't 'get it', and think it's a hoax of some kind.

I know they get a bad press, but I've found that older people seem to be the worst, in terms of not distancing etc. Middle aged upwards. The young people I've encountered when out seem more clued up. Dog walkers and runners are definitely the worst round here.

Maybe Pat. I think some folk are oblivious - regardless of age or anything else The rude people my daughter encounters at work are always older too. Mind you - they're just rude and self entitled all the time anyway though!
