Thanks for the encouragement, @Busy-Lizzie and @chicky.   :)   Nothing here worthy of the name of greenhouse (thinking of yours, Chicky!) but I do have a 2ft x 4ft plastic growhouse, firmly wired to the back of the shed, and a little heated propagator.  Been playing "musical chairs" with the emerging plants, squeezing in as much as possible...

Found a pretty plant which must have been put in by the owners-before-last, ie more than 17 years ago.  It was lurking under brambles and willow herb, on the side of an old stump.  I've looked it up, and think it might be Oxalis incarnata.   :)

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Evening. Hope everyone is ok.
Just in from work and I’ve missed an excitement in the garden today apparently...a swarm of bees! They have settled under an old Hebe bush. I think they do this before finding a permanent home, so I hope they will move on. Any knowledge about this welcome. 🐝

A swarm of bees in May is worth a load of hay!  ie very valuable!!!
you could get hold of your local beekeeping club and someone will come and ‘hive’ it.

Hi everyone just caught up. Been spending most of my gardening time watering so I'm sorry @Fairygirl but I think your wand needs re-charging as we have not had any of the rain here. It was my OH's birthday on the 23rd in the afternoon we went to sit in No 1 daughters garden as it's bigger than ours so easy to distance. Cold wind drove us home by 6pm. At least I was able to "treat" her to asparagus, broad beans and globe artichokes with the salmon. Glad your Birthday went ok too @punkdoc

The bees could be gone by tomorrow morning or they may stay for a few days. When they are in the tight formation round the queen they are quite calm, the big excitement comes when they move off en masse which can be a bit terrifying. We get a swarm most years so are looking out for one in the garden.

Yesterday was an "interesting" day. After a 12 hour shift on Sunday, I managed 3 1/2 hours sleep. Watering the garden at 4.50am by 11am curled up in a ball screaming in agony, 999 calls, ambulance, paramedics. Fun times. NOT
