Morning all. My apiarist friend came round yesterday to check out the bees and she was telling me she fed up telling her 78 year old mother to stop buying loo rolls as she now has over 20 multipacks already .
I can understand older people worrying @Hostafan1, and therefore doing some panic buying. It's 'those who should know better' that I have a problem with. Their self centred behaviour is what's making it hard for certain pockets of communities to get basic goods, and then keep away from the great unwashed. I wonder how many are using the 'I'm buying it for an elderly relative/neighbour/friend' get out of jail card. The vast majority of people who use that supermarket, also have cars. Many of them have very large houses. I wonder how many other supermarkets they're visiting to 'stock up'. That supermarket struggles at the best of times to keep shelves stocked, as the amount of new properties springing up is now beyond all reason. It's prime commuter land, good schools [already becoming over subscribed] and an expanding population, without the adequate infrastructure. I grew up there, and live not far away. The whole place is unrecognisable now.Â
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I just saw your post there @Dovefromabove. That's the kind of thing I mean. Good for your OH. Staff need to be firm, but some folk think they're more important than others.
Guests? Aye right. What guests? My a*se, as Jim Royle would say. You'd think they could have come up with soemthing better than that.
Daughter mentioned eggs too. Yes - eggs. Those well known non perishable items....Â

I've been on the phone to Letting Agents regarding marketing our flat . She went into the whole " are you happy to have a stranger entering the property? is anyone at the property high risk" etc. I said " It's ok, I've cut a bamboo cane to exactly 2m long and if anyone gets closer , I'll poke them in the eye" She laughed.
@Busy-Lizzie there's info on the site of Ministry of the Interior you should maybe check out. French residents are allowed home so maybe a ferry crossing? Or the tunnel? You have the right to come home I believe.  We are all being urged to stay home with no family or social gatherings and no group walkies or group play for children.  They have issued a form to download and sign as an "attestation d'honneur" which has to be carried when out walking the dogs or doing a grocery shop.Â
Some of my patch ladies are busy making themselves masks guided by a video on Youtube and, as I have the central mailing list, I'm sharing news, photos, jokes with them to keep up contact and moral. Most are in their 70s and 80s so will find this period of isolation hard.  The mosaic group is chatting by mail too.
Time to revive old hobbies and crafts if you don't have any active projects on the go.
@Hostafan1- did you see the bloke with the 'skirt' on t'interweb the other day? I think it might have been in Italy, but I can't remember. Don't know what it was made of, but it was a big circle of summat, attached to braces, to keep folk from getting too close. HilariousÂ
Sorry your plans have been thrown into disarray @Busy-Lizzie - but you and OH staying together is the most important thing. Â Hope your family in France can help out with the horses - time for them to do an emergency dash to you, rather than the other way round for a change.
Littlest chicklet and all her UK friends in Sydney are waiting to hear whether they are being recalled from their years abroad .....I suspect she will be ordered back sometime this week.  I think I am grateful for that, although worry about her on a plane, and am not sure where we are going to quarantine her for 14 days if she comes home.  We’ll find a way.  I’d rather be able to be with her if she gets sick.
We have stopped going out - but the advice that walking is still ok so long as you don’t engage with others is welcome news.  We had a great tramp across a Surrey Common yesterday - really lifted my spirits.  We are very lucky that we still have pleasures like that within reach.
Nice one @punkdoc Indeed @chicky. I hope it's fairly straightforward with chicklet. Mine are in constant contact with the great unwashed, but I try not to worry uneccessarily. I spend a lot of time self isolated anyway, so it's not too much of a strain for me to do I'd be walking with you, if you know what I mean, but I've pulled my 'rear' muscle again. It's dry though, for now, so I'll get out and do some more repair work on the grass etc. The rain yesterday has started to fill the new pond edges so that's good. More for later, so I'll get out now that I've got the soup made. Popmaster to keep me company...
