I think my parents read a lot of Chandler, so it rubbed off on me @Obelixx. Being a Bogart fan too probably helped I was perusing Acers again after you talking about yours. I really shouldn't, but they grow so well in our climate. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it I like the dark ones, especially dissectum, so I may allow myself another treat at some point. Perhaps a C*****mas prez. from the fairylets...
Never had a flu jab. I don't live with anyone susceptible now either, so I can cry off I think.Â

Didn't bother with flu jabs either tho OH always had one at work. However, now we're both 27 and the French govt sends us the prescription we've had it for the last 3 years and we've been fine all thru winter. Between OH's golf mates and my patch mates and the dancers we meet a fair few who gad about and I think air travel is a serious spreader of bugs so prefer to be safe and not sorry.
I think plants make great prezzies - much better than a bunch of flowers - so an acer would be perfect. I have discovered a label for one of the burgundy leaved ones - Japanese Jewels.
I'll look that one up @Obelixx. You really shouldn't encourage me though I no longer have a passport, so no flying, and I don't come into close contact with many that do. I suppose if I suddenly started getting unwell I might consider it. Have you recovered from your recent lurgy yet?

Interesting comments about the flu jab. Last year about this time when I was having a steroid injection into my very painful shoulder, I happened to mention to the GP that I always had a very bad skin reaction to a flu jab and after further questioning he advised me not to have any more, so I haven't had one this year. I've never had flu in my life either and we don't come into contact with many people over this period - hopefully I'll be okay.Â

My mom only gets sick right after her flu jab and is ill for a couple of days
I do everything wrong - I'm not particularly spatially aware, so am not tooooooo bright at judging where plants should go/will fit. Bought three acers to put in a bed outside a window as I liked the acer we already had in a pot in the back garden. So now I've got 4 acers where I'm not even sure I should even have one! The Emerald Lace is stunning though and growing at a pace.....
There are new ingredients in the flu jabs now ... as I understand it itâs usually the âcarrierâ that caused the problems ... @fidgetbones  would probably know much more about it ... OH had an awful reaction some years back ... I nearly called 999 ... but he told the pharmacist and they arranged for him to have a different jab and heâs been fine ever since.Â

They're looking really good @steveTu, so you're doing soemthing right  Emerald Lace is one we had at work, and it got quite big, but was lovely in autumn. A little judicious pruning kept it nicely in it's space.Â
