Chicky, in case you haven’t noticed, our clocks changed last night. It’s now a 10 hour gap. šŸ˜
There’s very hot wind here today. Not enjoying hanging the washing out. As well as battling the turning line, I’ve got to keep a sharp eye out for emerging snakes who have been hibernating all winter and they seem to like these types of days. 🤬 Hubby came out and stood with me at the rotary clothes line to act as an extra pair of eyes.Ā

    Morning all.
I wish I like honey too, especially as we have 5 hives in the garden.
We watched the second part of a rather good "journey up the Nile" programme on 5 then The Viceroy's House starring my old mate Hugh Bonneville.Ā

    Good morning allĀ  :) ā˜•ļøĀ
the ā€˜ppromised’ heavy rain has arrived ... I shall offer to drive OH to work later on ...
Otherwise it looks like another indoors day ... there’s a chicken to roast, books to read and knitting to do ... and I need to catch up with the Archers ...

Morning all/afties Pat. At least we don't have snakes to deal with when we put our washing out. So long as you've clipped it on securelyĀ  - you don't want to be getting in a car to chase after itĀ  ;)
Not that any will be going out here today. A tad damp...
Your dinner sounded very nice @Obelixx. I found it hard to believe it's that length of time you've been in your new house.
How is OH coping with his physio @Busy-Lizzie?Ā Ā

I sort and set off the wash and hanging it up has evolved to be OH's job but no snakes, fortunately.Ā  Ā Good to have the extra eyes tho @Pat E if they're twitchy and hungry when they come out of their winter slumber.Ā  Ā We never hung it out in our Belgian garden @Fairygirl as it either got blown away, rained on or decorated by the resident and passingĀ  birds.Ā  Bit different here.

Dinner was delish.Ā  Have just had a pot of Greek yogurt with orange blossom honey, the only way I like honey really except in a hot drink with fresh grated ginger roots and lemon juice if I have a cold coming on.Ā  Ā I'd happily let someone have bee hives here tho.

We have a couple of chiff-chaffs and garden warblers in the new rose beds today - only heard them before - and the verbascum phoenicum are buzzing with pollinators of several shapes and sizes.Ā  Ā Very pleasing.

OH has taken to stalking cars in car parks, looking for one the right size and shape for our needs.Ā  Makes for interesting shopping trips and it seems there's a lot of old technology out there.Ā  He's gone off to play golf today and will no doubt stalk the car park there too.

Wouldn't fancy a bike in the rain either @Dovefromabove.Ā  Ā While my OH is out to play I have patch homeowrk to do for tomorrow" committee meeting and workshop, a frock to finish now I have the zip, belly pork to roast and critters to cuddle while working out how to get OH onside for my garden plans........

Hello again everyone. Yes I managed to get the washing out without any unwanted surprises today. The weather was horrible. High 20 s and very strong wind. I was exhausted after.

in bed now, and preparing to read a new book. šŸ˜„

OH and three portions of Blackberry & Apple Cake have been delivered to work.
Floor has been vacuumed, towels are in the wash, potatoes and parsnips are peeled and waiting in a bowl of water with a squirt of lemon juice, Savoy cabbage prepped and a chicken has been massaged with lemon juice, garlic and olive oil and sprinkled with seasalt and black pepper and is sitting with some onions in the lidded enamelled roasting tin and will be put in the oven later.
That will have to do ... even though they’re only six feet from the back doorĀ I am not going outside in this deluge to pick sage and rosemary. 🌧 🌧 🌧

Horrid cold wet day. Son is coming round soon.

I went out this morning to the SM that is open on Sunday mornings for groceries, fruit and veg then to a small GC to buy violas. They had just had a new batch in, cheaper than the big GC. Bought 7 trays of 10 and some compost to add to the raided bed in the veg garden that I will sow broad beans in. Going to have another bash at autumn sowing. Never worked when they were in the ground, maybe the raised bed will work.

The mail order nursery that I use for bedding plants seems to have folded. Another nursery has all their stuff which they are advertising under the name of the first place. Unless the first place was on a water ban and the 2nd place is helping out. Some areas of France were very badly hit in the summer by drought, no watering at all was allowed, even for farmers.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
