I've been busy, Hosta, sweeping up leaves on the kitchen terrace. They were too wet to use the leaf sucking thingy, blocked it up.

We have planted 3 fruit trees in what will eventually be our fruit cage - two pears and an apricot.  They're in the former donkey paddowk that is becoming our potager and, after lying fallow since it was ploughed and harrowed by a chap on a  teeny tractor 2 years ago, has been lying fallow.  The soil is lovely now we've had some rain and there are some huge, very black worms.  I hope they'll be happy.

Needless to say the under-gardener grumped because two of the new holes were in grass which needed clearing and not under the huge sheet of agricultural plastic he's hoping will kill off the bindweed.  However, once the grass was cleared off the soil below is lovely, unlike the very solid, dry stuff where the last hole was just under the sheet.  I think it needs to go so the winter rains can get in and then we'll just put down loads of cardboard.

@Hostafan 1  I thought you only did the one day now.  Loads of kids and some staff in scary make-up and cosutmes at the SM today.  Much more than last year and far more disguises and decorative bits on sale too.  It's creeping in here now.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

That'll be good @chicky. I love home made soup  :)
Did Mr chicky make it very competitive?  :D
Had to go out earlier, and it's getting damp. At least the council chaps  will get a wee break from gritting tonight. They've been busy this week.

No sign of any little cherubs here.

Great carving @Chicky.  Enjoy the soup.   No carving here but we did enjoy butternut and chick peas tagine leftovers for lunch today.

Buerre Hardy and William's Bon Chrétien are the pears.   Supposed to be compatible for pollinating.
