I'm so sorry @Allotment Boy. Quite a shock. I too loathe the M25. And the M1 going north out of London, the M6 round Birmingham, the M42 round Birmingham, trying to drive thru Birmingham to avoid them.......... and the last time I did that was about 15 years ago and I expect it's all much worse now.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

That’s a pretty tough day in anyone’s book @Allotment Boy - hope you can have a recovery day tomorrow. Long and busy day today so just nipped on here before retiring for the night - just waiting for leccy blanket to heat up... Night all.
Re birds: found my feeders today, need to give them a good scrub before putting them up in the new garden here. Don't want to introduce any nasty foreign diseases to the established population... plenty of variety, including lots of birds eating haws and sloes in the hedge. It'll be interesting to see what comes to the feeders.
Got to take the car to the nearest reasonably-sized town tomorrow, to re-register it with Irish number plates. We have a problem which can't possibly be unique: to comply with the requirements for filling in the paperwork, we need paper copies of proof of our address. These days almost everything is set up on line... in theory we could print things out, but in practice that needs a printer which is speaking to the computer through the newly-installed broadband. Car re-registration process has to be started within 7 days of moving to Ireland so we'll have to find a solution...
Daughter and family paid a visit today. Nothing like granddaughters tearing round the house to make it feel like home!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Miserable day @Allotment Boy ....((hugs)) here if you need them.
Had a very enjoyable day of Monday gardening ....still feels a bit like I’m playing truant 😳. Mr C got an early escape from work so we squeezed in a walk before the early sunset. Found this, which reminded me of the Forkers Heading for this month
I am sure one of @Fairygirl ‘s relatives was hiding behind a nearby blade of grass 🧚🏻♀️
What a gorgeous mushroom @chicky, they are usually going tatty when I find them.
I had tea and chat with my friend in the village this afternoon. I had thought I might do a little gardening between that and the SM but it rained just then.
All that talk of birds - a flock of cranes flew over the house on Sunday on their way south for the winter. First I've seen this year, but didn't see any today. I love the noise they make.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I find it easiest to avoid Birmingham altogether, especially as there's nothing there to entice me to return.
Common Cranes were the subject of Tweet of the Day on Sunday ... lovely sound. We have a breeding flock of them not far from here in the Norfolk Broads but I’ve not been fortunate enough to see them ... yet. However we watched a heron fly past our bedroom window yet again this morning ... magic 😃
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Having survived 2 scary incidents in one day on the M25 I have decided that I am not going to allow it to intimidate me 😜

Did anyone hear Daniel Butler on Radio 4 this afternoon ... I’ve been receiving his newsletters for some years now http://www.fungiforays.co.uk/
